3004.388.4_0-gnuton0_beta2
DSL-AX82U

Two minor things on Administration -> Firmware upgrade page , not sure if it's worth filing github issues for but I will if asked, if there is a better site/thread now as this seams dead I have not found yet it, sorry -

1. Firmware update check is failing currently, and the error message for it states "The router cannot connect to ASUS server to check for the firmware update. Please download the latest firmware from ASUS Product Support Site and do manually upgrade. Check on [FAQ](http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_FirmwareUpgrade_Content.asp) for more instructions." which should not be the case for Gnuton firmware of course.

2. A weird quirk on that page also, firmware version Current Version shown there loads as "3004.388.4_0-gnuton0_beta2" approximately four seconds after every page load pops into "3004.388.4-gnuton0_beta2" dropping the "_0" for some reason.

I see an upcoming change with 3004.388.5 builds is:

- CHANGED: Display tracked connections on the QoS/Classification page even if QoS isn't set to Adaptive QoS.

Does this impact CPU or other resources when not looking at that page? If so will there be an option to turn off that data gathering?

No. The changes are strictly to that specific page.

For those who have mentioned no cpu 4 usage… I had my xt8 under decent load streaming 4k and also copying 100gb from a connected USB stick (in the main XT8) to a laptop…

Just noticed 388.5 was put up a few days ago, fetched and ran a root filesystem comparison with the last beta before it for the XT8 V1:

Release build is back to missing the TEE module.

Following up on the recent topic, is there any plan to support the ZenWiFi XT9 in the imminent future please?
+1
I have same question, since the openvpn client is 2.4, not sure for how long it will be supported by vpn providers.

My DSL-AX82U running 3004.388.7_1-gnuton1 is today flaring up a notification that there is a firmware update available for it, but there is nothing I can see on the gnuton page that would be relevant other than the alpha from July 5th.
It doesn't seem to be an alert for stock firmware either as the Asus page's last release was two months ago.
It could be for an update that hasn't been listed on the support page yet, or just a mistake, but hitting the update button states it 'cannot connect to the Asus servers'

that happens when the release is available but not public yet.
You should be able to see the latest https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/releases/tag/3004.388.8_2-gnuton1 now

I just found it had been posted 4 hours ago myself and came to update my post too. I'd thought a release would be visible on github before update notifications hit hence thinking it might be a bug/still checking the wrong place.
Cheers for all your brilliant work as always!

Has anyone run into an issue where the router stops allowing internet access from the network? I recently came back to these builds & my XT8 and cannot figure ot what's going on.

The router shows as connected and I can run nslookup on the router with no issues, but no machine can reach the internet, including IP addresses. I've tried rebooting, different cables, etc.

DoT is broken on the GT-BE98 so it may also be the case with other models.

I reported this on GitHub two months ago but it hasn’t been looked into yet.

3x XT8 here on Gnuton 388.8-2, DoT in place since a full reset for another issue. Uptime=3d and no issue to report

Unfortunately I think development for Gnuton in general is slower due to his IRL job and or time available he commits to the project being limited. Which is fine, but hard to compare Merlin vs Gnuton as RMerlin tends to pump out fixes being the upstream developer. Sometimes if the fix can be made by RMerlin then retrospectively Gnuton might inherit the fix. Really depends on if the issue is router model specific due to a build configuration problem.

If the problem can be solved or narrowed down by you as a developer I think gnuton is much more likely to push it out as a revision. Unfortunately for most John doe’s with limited or no development skills this relies on Gnuton to figure it out eventually or with the mercy of snbfourm users if they have some insight they can share.

3.0.0.6 does seems to be Gnuton’s and Rmerlin’s focus thankfully for your issue. If it was a build configuration issue maybe cross reference 3.0.0.6 builds from RMerlin upstream and see if anything is missing in Gnutons build.

I received my new AX5400. just want to say thank you for your amazing job. It's really nice to have merlin for this. Thank you thank you

Hi, just wanna say thanks for your builds!

A quick question: is XT9 much different from XT8 or is it also possible to support it in the near future? Judging from the bugs fixed and firmware versions released they should be pretty similar...

The XT9 is very different from XT8 given that it builds from a different SDK and platform.
I do not see it being supported in the near future.

I've been checking for updates every day since reading the thread on the AiCloud issue, and today there is the first alpha build with patches for it (thank you GNUton!)
