New Around Here
1. AIMesh support backported in from the new 2018 Asuswrt firmware. My routers are running it on Asuswrt and you can't mix & match with Merlin.
2. Removal of the processor-throttling code that activates if you try to change the clock speed. Maybe even make the processor clock speed GUI-accessible, and actually stick across reboots.
3. Active Directory integration with samba/NTFS. I'd like an option to be able to control access & authentication thru AD. May not seem like much, but this is especially significant because, as I found out the hard way, you can't take ownership of any file system objects to delete things as an admin. I had to move all the files off an entire drive and format it just to get rid of some files that I couldn't remove any other way. The existing authentication mechanism is too primitive to be useful.

I don't know how much work is associated with each of these, but I'd sure be happy to contribute to their development if it can be done and I have no doubt many others would too.

4. Fix existing Asus Wanduck or implement a working (RMerlin coded) Dual WAN solution.

5. Implement App or Script store into GUI, with a minimum of 10 readily "click to install" apps/scripts available on first alpha release.

6. Hardware real time clock

7. A persistent built in file system, 10 or 20 GB will do for starters. Googling "download more RAM" should give some pointers how to code it.

Feature requests:
- Ability to turn off WAN & still use VPN server. At the moment VPN server will not start until WAN is up. Current workaround is static WAN ip with fake address.
- Ability for guest network to access limited LAN IP range. In my guest network I allow access to 192.168.0.16/29 via script, so that guests can access printers and ChromeCast devices.
- Policy Routing for VPN server not just clients. In my case my FIOS router is my main router with static route to VPN subnet. Asus VPN server clients need to access LAN locations via the FIOS gateway instead of directly otherwise return packets have asymmetric routing and many LAN resources become inaccessible to VPN clients.
- Ability to use Asus DDNS even when router is secondary & needs to discover WAN IP via other gateway.
- Ability to restrict IPv6 Tunnel Broker router advertisements to a list of mac addresses, so I can have certain PCs use IPv6 tunnel without having all my devices such as phones and tablets use Hurricane Electric IPv6 tunnel, which incurs more overhead than standard provider IPv4.

Thanks in advance for considering these features.

Asuswrt-Merlin is an alternative, customized version of that firmware. Developed by Eric Sauvageau, its primary goals are to enhance the existing firmware without bringing any radical changes, and to fix some of the known issues and limitations, while maintaining the same level of performance as the original firmware. This means Asuswrt-Merlin retains full support for NAT acceleration (sometimes referred to as "hardware acceleration"), enhanced NTFS performance (through the proprietary drivers used by Asus from either Paragon or Tuxera), and the Asus exclusive features such as AiCloud or the Trend Micro-powered AiProtection. New feature addition is very low on the list of priorities for this project.

This project isn't about the addition of new features, rather stabilising and securing the firmware produced by Asus. Those wanting new features are better off looking at an alternative firmware.
