Sorry if OT but I've lost touch a bit with where development is at for the RT-AX88U.

Last Merlin release was at the end of July and it doesn't seem like there have been any alpha or beta builds since.

Has development slowed/ceased because it's an older model now?
He's waiting for GPLs from Asus. Before he receives those there isn't much he can do.

If you really want to run along the bleeding edge, there’s always the stick STOCK firmware

Yes, I wonder when the firmware from merlin will arrive for the rt-be92u and it will be sometime next year and I am a little interested in starting the sweep file and possibly if you can fix it to 6GHz for the latest update from asus it was worse than before from their firmware and what I can see on my router it is good reception and sometimes disappears on 6GHz even if you are in the same place it is not ok and wifi 6GHz can disappear in my router for several minutes before it is activated in the router again , have tried different channels on 6GHz and the same thing no matter what channel you choose there, am not interested in 2.4G&5GHz but more 6GHz because few people use it on my farm, what I can use on my wifi is 20/40/80/ 160 but not 320 mhz and becomes 20 mhz instead of 320 mhz and then 160 mhz works instead on 6GHz
Yes BE92u is so unstable and buggy that some WiFi channels (not only on 6Ghz but 5Ghz also) may disappear after running a period of time. Smart Connect cannot be set off if 6Ghz was connected with client side and I cannot do the channels adjustnent. VPN server IPSec not working and may cause the router freeze when connecting, had to manually reboot. Most worse is that my BE92u happened twice gone to dead during setup adjust through the browser (only power LED light up after reboot). Normal factory reset and firmware recovery not work, only Hard factory reset (WPS reset) can rescue the router.

I just recently switched over to stock firmware on my RT-AX86u Pro as it appeared (to me) that it wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
At first I had tried to get everything working (All devices have static IPs and custom Icons), VPN excemptions, etc. working in the previous stock
firmware but could not get the VPN exceptions working correctly...However once they updated my model to
ASUS RT-AX86U_PRO_3.0.0.6_102_34319 firmware I tried again and was successful...Has been running fine now for serveral weeks on
ASUS RT-AX86U_PRO_3.0.0.6_102_34319. Yeah it's not nearly as nice as the Merlin firmware but I could get everything working with the
new firmware. If ASUS ever give's Merlin the firmware Blobs necessary for 3006 code on the Pro models I'll revert back to Merlin.
(But I'm not holding my breath).
Same for me, ALWAYS use merlin firmware from AC68-u till AX88, and now i have a AX-88 Pro, i needed the extra options with SDN etc..
and use stock firmware, but when Merlin release a 3.0.0.6.xx for a AX88 Pro, then directly i go back to asus merlin firmware.

but when Merlin release a 3.0.0.6.xx for a AX88 Pro
While I believe there are a significant number of us with 3004-based AX Routers currently supported by Merlin FW, unfortunately the appearance of a 3006 update is not a given, nor is there any stated timeline for the same.

A cynic (and I am one) might say it is not in ASUS business interest to release GPLs which extend the life of existing routers by adding features present in higher and later models, but if it ever happens (and I hope it does), then at least we will be pleasantly surprised :).

I am disappointed that ASUS has lagged behind publicly releasing GPL archives for 3006 routers. The last public GPL for the AX88U Pro is for 3.0.0.4.388_23110 (July 2023), while the current firmware is 3.0.0.6.102_33340, as an example.

To add to this. See RMerlin's response from last week.

New ETA received for updated GPLs. We'll see if this time (the third one so far) it will stick...

True, but absent any detail in that statement as to which models those GPLs apply, you only have the information in the thread quoted by Tech9, regarding WiFi 7 devices.

Still, there are some models e.g. RT-AX86U Pro that already have 3006-based stock FW, so folks (with that specific model at least) are free to choose that option; just not the Merlin equivalent.

What I linked is about Wi-Fi 6 devices. What is expected as GPL for Wi-Fi 7 devices, if I understand correctly.
I was referring to this statement in the post you linked to; bold by me for what I was referring to, to avoid misunderstandings.

I only asked Asus for Wifi 7 3006 GPLs (which got delayed twice already, so I decided to move on to other plans for now) and 3004 GPL (which is going to come first, but with no ETA).

I don't know where you are looking but the latest release is dated Nov. 17 and the one before that is Aug 1

I just picked up a AX86U Pro with the anticipation of being able to create a VLAN for my soon to arrive Reolink POE Security system. I've made some assumptions about capabilities and being able to assign one of the ports as a trunk? (or create a new vlan) and that the uplink on the Reolink can and will behave like I want. The 10 cameras will each get an IP from a different pool (or a subset) and that I have the separation I want.

Assuming this will work, once figured out, I'll be one of those to benefit from the 3006 codebase on a Wi-Fi 6 device.

I suppose I have an option with the 3004.388 codebase to just do some DHCP reservations and some shotgun iptables rules to block or drop to the rest of my reserved addresses. Might be big and ugly, I'll start a new 'help' thread on that when I run out of ideas and research.
