Any idea when we can expect a new Merlin firmware for the RT-N66U router based on the ASUS Version 3.0.0.4.370 firmware?

Thank you for you time and great firmware......

Hi,

Remember: Merlin supplies the firmware as his hobby and dedicates a lot of time for making it perfect and supporting the user via the forum. Beside that he as a job to earn money for living.

Typically he surprises us with faster releases then expected, but we can not demand predictions from him on the release dates!

On top: I suggest that you contribute to the game by helping the forum and Merlin with some donations and being a active here.

With kind regards
Joe

Dear Mr. joegreat,

I did not know I was demanding a prediction from Merlin about when he would release his next firmware. I just asked Merlin if he had any idea when he would release his next firmware. Does not sound like much of a demand to me.

I posted several times in the ASUS forums when most of the support for Merlin firmware was there. I believe I have posted a couple of time here (maybe not, can't remember) and I have emailed Merlin a few time about some bugs in his firmware.

And no offense to Merlin, but I thought he was doing the firmware as a hobby (like you said) and because it was something he like to do, not something to make money.

Thank you for your time and sorry if this email is too demanding for you...........Geeeeee........

Merlin provides a hosted download service for the many firmwares - which has to be paid for. I doubt that he wants to make money out of the firmware, he is simply grateful if donations cover those costs

I too have a hobby, working on computers. I have fixed a lot of computers for people for free because they have little to no money. However, I need tools to continue to do this. Would you like to donate money to me so I can continue to do this?

My whole point was, I NEVER DEMANDED THAT MERLIN WRITE FIRMWARE FOR ME AND I NEVER DEMANDED THAT HE TELL ME WHEN HE WAS GOING TO RELEASE HIS NEXT VERSION!

Take it easy folks, there's no reason to argue about this.

As pointed out, there is no ETA for the next version. There are still some things I need to work out, and the coming few weeks are going to be quite busy both at home and at work for me.

new FW

Yes, and now quite interesting discussion started at Tomato forums in threads of Shibby and Victek with new FWs prepared recently there.
Hope will try one of last fws soon. So guy you have the alternatives.

Hey guy I think you are taking this way too personally. No one is attacking you even though your tone is more combative with each successive post. I always try and take 48 hours before sending anything out there that can be interpreted as anything other than a peaceful "exchange". I just wish I have always followed that advice...

Shibby's new 110 version has a version for the RT-AC66U.

Sorry if my post seem a bit rude. I thought forums were for asking questions, which is what I did. I did not like it when someone started saying I was demanding an answer to my question, which I wasn't. If my question gets answered, OK, if it doesn't get answered, that's OK too.

And that is an very understandable sentiment even if it may be misplaced. I have always found that waiting 48 hours to be very sound advice. Sometimes, when you reread something the next day you get a completely different take or at least I know that I have. The problem with these forums is much the same as with email, it is often impossible to discern intent. Or perhaps I should say it is very easy to misinterpret the intent behind a written message if emoticons are absent.
