The physics of the 2.4Ghz frequency means it excites water molecules... of which our bodies made of up to 70 percent. The brain and nervous system is mostly water. 2.4Ghz is also fairly decent at penetrating most materials. Therefore it's only a matter of how much power is emitted and absorbed at that frequency. If you are comfortable with these facts then you have nothing to be concerned about.

However, I choose to have 2.4Ghz Wifi running as low in power as I can get away with no matter what device is emitting it... cell phone, wireless router, laptop, cell tower, etc.. Also... This is not secret information, speculative or debatable information about 2.4Ghz. It's been well known for a very long time and you can read about it in any science related book and all over the internet.

Physics? Anyone who did not take physics in school? How about cosmic rays? How about X-ray, Cat scan, MRI at hospitals? How about high tension lines feeding power to our home? We live in it. So many things are beyond our control.

Indeed, and all credible scientific research and the World Health Organisation have so far found no proven connection between Wi-Fi emissions and ill health at the levels given off by consumer equipment. Personally, I'd be more concerned about tangible risks like air pollution from vehicles. And yet I still live in the city and accept those risks.:)
I don't want to generate a debate about the risks of 2.4Ghz Wifi radiation because... yes there are so many other potentially harmful things in our modern environment that can effect us and this is probably not the forum to focus on that issue but... consider that it used to be widely accepted that radioactivity was not very harmful to human health or at least there was at one time no conclusive medical evidence it was harmful.

In the 1950s there were consumer products with radioactive material built in for everything from glow in the dark objects to vinyl record brush cleaners with radioactive material that prevented static buildup on the records. Lead paint and lead pipes were commonly used not that long ago, asbestos was one of the most common forms of insulation material used in schools, buildings, apartments, houses, etc.. We are still dealing with the ramifications of those issues to this day. Just because exposure to something is popular and used everywhere and some of the health organizations say it's safe doesn't automatically make it safe in the long run.

Keep in mind that of course I still use 2.4Ghz Wifi on most of my devices but I opt for being able to limit my exposure to high amounts of it as much as possible. I prefer using 5Ghz Wifi where I can. I'm not telling anyone here what they should or shouldn't do. I'm just stating the well known facts so people who have never heard the facts now know. If you choose not to be concerned at all about it then by all means that's your choice.

At times like this I think of the comforting words of Mr. Burns: "A lifetime of working in a nuclear power plant has given me a healthy green glow." :)

Yes, all those could lead to potential harmful long term effects. That's why it's now recommended to limit your exposure to x-rays, MRIs, Cat scans and cosmic rays. They used to not worry much about the number of x-rays you had. Now they track that information because they know it can have long term harmful effects. Cosmic rays are a huge issue with astronauts. NASA has been re-evaluating the safety of long term living environments in space. As we learn more about these potential effects better choices toward limiting exposure are being made.

I am concerned about all of the harmful products of our modern environment. It's not just one thing. These comments remind me of those old anti-smoking videos where the patients would hold the cigarette up to a hole in their throat and when asked why they still smoked... they would reply that they were going to be gone soon anyway so why worry about it.

After playing with the ASUS UI on-line and seeing a power level adjustment I was happy about the feature but unfortunately after getting an RT-AC5300 the feature was non-existent. I'm wondering if the tri-banders are burning up because they're all juiced up so people wont cry about coverage.

I'm not concerned about the milliwatt exposure from these devices (you don't want to see my internal RF environment) but I want to drop levels down to the least amount to maintain functional comms. I want to limit my RF street footprint as much as possible. One of my WiFi routers is at 1% power and the devices are humming along happily.

You can also use 1% power on guest networks for visitors that keep bugging you to use WiFi with their mobiles. When they start bitching about connectivity or speed tell them to stop being cheap bastards and use their data plan like they're supposed to.

This should help:

And seeing that you're from the left coast, didn't you know you'd be a bad parent if you put children in cars? Cars actually had stickers on the driver side window with the typical >contents blah blah blah may be harmful to pregnant women and children blah blah blah.
