I've put this in another thread for 5300 users:

"I am running the Alpha build for the AC5300. So far, it is flawless!! I can't find the disc spin down election, but minidlna is working with an 8tb disc attached via usb 3. Speeds are as before the firmware install. Logs are not showing anything very weird, all accounting portions of software are totaling happily along. In short, even this alpha is SWEET!!
Thanks, Merlin!"

I've also noted that a wireless survey shows ALL 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks in my proximity.
QOS is working solidly.
I'm (thankfully!) not seeing any of the weirdness others have noted in the upgrade process...
I'll update if stuff goes sideways!

EDIT:
With firefox the same problem when the filter is turned on. In the overview of the devices then the name is not displayed only the MAC address. When turned off, the status then depends.

This alpha 1 build seems pretty perfect to me, Merlin  Thanks as always.

Upgraded my RT-AC87U remotely through VPN (380.69_2 to 384.4_alpha1). Didn't even reset to factory defaults. Had to use CTRL-F5 a few times in Chrome and https wasn't working properly (as expected). Rebooted a few times and installed a new certificate through LetsEncrypt, that's a nice new feature when using DDNS.

Another sweet new thing is the temps seem to have decreased dramatically :eek:Before my RT-AC87u reported around 86 degrees Celsius for the CPU, and now it's only reporting around 78! Still not very realistic, but thanks for that ASUS ;)

And everything else seems fine so far. Finally a proper Krack solution for RT-AC87U.

EDIT: but the MAC filter GUI issue is present as reported above. Don't use it anyway though.

Asus made changes to how the client selector dropdown is implemented in 384_20379. I haven't gone through all pages yet to ensure these changes were all properly applied, I only took care of the DHCP page so far.

Highly unlikely to be related to the firmware. In fact, the entire Quantenna firmware is totally identical to that of 380.xx.

@RMerlin, I just wanted to say thank you for making test builds for the AC5300! I always got jealous seeing the other devices get them! For better or for worse, I'm one of those people who loves having bleeding edge software and having these builds feeds that habit! I just installed it + rebooted and noticed that there's new settings and such now which made me happy! I noticed that under "tools" the driver version is "wl0: Jan 30 2018 17:20:41 version 10.10.122.303 (r666429) FWID 01-8e8af1ce", so was there a driver version update released by ASUS on the 30th that you incorporated into this build? If so, was there a list of improvements made in the driver? I'm sure it probably helps performance and overall functionality, I just love reading changelogs! xD I'm finally upgrading to FiOS Gigabit Internet soon and that's where this router will really shine! I believe it's 960mbps download and 880mbps upload which is definitely an improvement over what I have now! Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and that I appreciate all the hard work and time you dedicate to this project!

Did you try doing the CTRL + F5 combination yet? You could also try manually resetting temporary files in your browser. CTRL + F5 has always worked for me when the GUI looks odd after an upgrade.

This boring and annoying message is still there when both radios are not activated
:unable to send packet on real device for eth2: No buffer space available
System Log --> General Log : Adjust " Log only messages more urgent than " on INFO and the spam will stop. ;)

Looking good so far on AC87U... Thank you RMerlin...

Just wondering why I don't see the disk spinning down/up notice in the system log anymore... and yes, the feature is enabled and disks are actually spinning down/up... did default log level change? I upgraded from 380.69_2

Cheers,
D.

Great news! Can't wait to go back to Merlin for my AC3100 soon

Same issue on WiFi MAC filters tab noticed from other users. I'd like also to notify now on RT-AC86U the wifi guest MAC Address list it seems limited to 16 clients instead of 64 (at least on WebUI)

RT-AC86U- Got problems with some Samba file transfers, they start off but drop to zero after about 30 seconds.

@RMerlin
Commit 855fc08 has the description "Merge SDK 7114 files and binary blobs for RT-AC3100 and RT-AC5300 (GPL 384_20379)".

Looking at release/src/router/bwdpi_source/asus/prebuild_arm_7114/RT-AC5300/libbwdpi.so
the version in github is the same as the one in GPL_RT_AC3100_300438420379.zip,
but this file is different from the one in GPL_RT_AC5300_300438420379.zip?

The github version in release/src/router/bwdpi_source/asus/prebuild_arm_7114/RT-AC3100 itself has not been updated yet.
