Yes I would have thought that too - that there would be a blank or error.

So am I better off going down the install NTPDaemon for Merlin route?
I tested firmware NTPD for a day or two and did not have the issue you are experiencing so perhaps you will have the same problem with ntpMerlin. But perhaps it would be easier to troubleshoot with full control via ntp.conf.

I don't know, I didn't even know that feature existed until 4 minutes ago...

Understood.
Please consider it in your to-do list if and whenever it's possible because it was pretty useful.

No idea then. The networkmap data is generated by a closed source component. The name is typically extrapolated by it based on various factors, such as the DPI engine's identification of the client, Netbios name (if any), etc...

Maybe try removing /jffs/nmp_cl_json.js through SSH then reboot (also through SSH) and see what happens.

Deleting the file and rebooting helped a little but still not fixed. After reboot my Macbook Pro manufacturer was Apple for a while and after several minutes it's back to 'Trendnet Print', whatever that is. I also changed IP back to 192.168.1.1.

At least I don't have 'nw_ap_1552_sykevr_11' as names of multiple devices. I think culprit might be changing LAN address, because I read some people also say they see multiple devices connected from same device, which I also saw the same situation when router IP was 192.168.10.1.

Hi,

my issue (showing disconnect on main page) is gone after a full factory-reset an re-write my settings with the navram save/restore utility.

I have the same problem with my RT-AC87U (I posted about it on the beta thread), the difference with you is that I'm using external servers (local to my country).

The Refid I get is always ool-43544400.dyn.optonline.net no matter which servers I configure on the system page or when I do so (I tested it again on 384.11 final and it hasn't changed). This happens with the redirection turned on, or off and the client's ntp server pointed to the router's address.

It may only be a case of the wrong Refid being passed (the delay still matches the RTD of the servers I've configured, like it does for you) but to prevent any problems I've gone back to ntpMerlin.

EDIT: maybe the NTP program used by the firmware server has a bug that causes it to fail to update the Refid and it sticks to the first one it sees.

Glad to see you also have good results. :)

To find those settings, go to USB Applications, Servers Center. ;)

Thanks I found them, all seem to be off by default.

I noticed network place (samba) share is on though, should I turn that off?

Not quite sure what that does or if I would need it on.

It sounds like all this settings refer to USB port of router, and I have never used a usb connected to the router.

Observation: I noticed that my Speedtest results with DNS privacy in .11 turned on are noticeably lower than when using Stubby.

My ISP speed is 50/5.

With Stubby, I get around 45-46/2-3.
With DNS Privacy on the router (and no Stubby), I get 30/1

Has anyone else noticed this?

DNS lookup should have next to no impact on available bandwidth/line speed

I know but I ran the test 3x.
I disabled the OpenVPN Client.
I ran SpeedTest and got 30/1
I waited 2 minutes, and ran SpeedTest again, result was the same.
I turned off the built-in DNS Privacy in the router and waited 2 minutes
I ran SpeedTest again and got 48/4
I turned DNS Privacy on again and the SpeedTest results dropped to 30/1 again.

I know its weird and theoretically shouldn't affect the speed but for some reason it is. I didn't have this issue when running Stubby on my USB Drive.

Is SpeedTest using a different server between tests perhaps?

I flashed this morning from 384.10_2.

I can't get the tcpdump command to display any output:
Code:
tcpdump -i eth0 -p port 853 -n
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on eth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 262144 bytes
No packets displayed.

The Network Tools -> Netstat: TCP Packets option works:

Code:
tcp 0 0 88.123.234.255:53696 1.0.0.1:853 TIME_WAIT -
tcp 0 0 88.123.234.255:45304 1.1.1.1:853 ESTABLISHED 19284/stubby

Here is another validation:
Code:
netstat -lnpt | grep -E '^Active|^Proto|/stubby'
Code:
Active Internet connections (only servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
tcp 0 0 127.0.1.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 19284/stubby

I have it too, since always.

FYI - Wow! Absolutely amazing response - see this HND model v384.11.1 commit :):)

I get this message on the log every 20 minutes or so. I know it has something to do with AiProtection but saw no solution to this issue which was claimed to be solved in some FW update :
I think turning off AiProtection solves this issue but I don't want it disabled , I also run Skynet and Diversion ,,, After dcd crash, does it restart automatically ? Is it something to worry about?

Same problem on rt AC86U..........

Solved giving time for the implementation of the new firmware between........restorations..... restarts and implementations of qos...........5 minutes approximately in my case

Now all works fine
