Known issue, they left ON debugging logs on 382, so your logs will be filled with garbage.I just fired up a new RT-AC88U with pretty much default settings and am getting logs filled with this garbage.

How do you turn OFF debugging logs? ThanksKnown issue, they left ON debugging logs on 382, so your logs will be filled with garbage.

Put it to you this way.. Right now despite all the glowing review$$, in its current state this router is crippled, you have to disable almost every feature.Hello good afternoon! I found this post which has a lot of information about this router, but I have several issues before deciding to buy this other router. I would like you to help me decide. Thank you very much!
I am hesitant when buying these two routers, the ROG Rapture AC5300 or the RT-AC88U AC3100. At home I have an HP G8 Microserver with a Raid 5 system with 17 TB and a 300/300 Internet connection that I use for various things, but for what I use most is for P2P, with more than 1000 torrents.
These two routers contain aggregation of links and eight LAN ports, so it is imperative that they are with these features due to the number of cables I have to connect (I do not want to put a switch). My day is not playing games (I only play Farm Simulator 17 and Euro Truck Simulator 2) but with the two online games.
The ROG is very attractive for all the hardware features it has, but it is against the price (although the AC88U also remains somewhat expensive). I've been reading several pages of this post and the truth is that I have not found very good reviews towards the ROG (I started reading from the beginning that it was an early release of the router).
Is it worth buying the ROG today? I could also read at the beginning of the post that the ROG does not have Merlin software support.
ufff because I already discarded the ROG, I had read something similar around here, but to confirm it I decided to discard it. As for the X10 R9000 I see it also a beast, but with two LAN ports less, which could assume (What is a beast is also the amount of money).Put it to you this way.. I just bought the netgear x10 r9000. Plugged it on and wow, flow speeds via Lan to usb and wireless to usb are maxed out, 103MB sec. Ive never seen more than 15 with this gt5300 despite trying everything for months. Don't think the Link Aggregation works either.
My only issue is security. The 5300 seems to have blocked many sites and other stuff. The netgear seems to litterally have no firewall except blocking incoming except on port 80. I have 2 months to decide but right now I am loving the speed of the x10. Also several options for custom firmware. Firmware is really the issue here. Asus released a broken product with a new chipset and I hear the next oval looking router will have another new chipset. So I'm thinking they might abandon work on this cpu all together.
On ASUS site they mentioned some lame 3 months cycle where they put out several firmwares during that time.. And it sounds to me that after that time, especially since they might dump the chipset package in this router, there will be little to no support.

That's too bad. A detailed log mechanism that does nothing but fill the log up with meaningless garbage is useless and wastes resources. You can't.

I had an issue with my log filling up with not giving name localhost to the DHCP and found a work around when searching that could possibly help you with this issue. On the router under "LAN > DHCP Server > Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list" create a reservation for the device and give it a name there. (Remember to set "Enable Manual Assignment" to Yes)Hello fellow GT Ac5300 owners. I think I found a bug that I didn't see anyone else here report. I cannot successfully change the device name under DHCP server settings. I factory reset the router and I started to assign IP's and names and it saved but after a while the IP's are saved but he device names are all default names (I think the default names are from.l the device itself). Is there a way to fix? Anyone else run into this problem?

That sucks..... Then why do they let you edit it but not save...kinda pointless.Stock firmware does not allow allocating a hostname on the DHCP page, you need a custom firmware for that.

The interesting thing is when I factory reset the router, I was able to set names and it saved for about a week or so. Then it reverted back to default names. The Networkmap name is a label (i.e. a description).
Not sure why Asus has never implemented hostname support.
This thread is for the GT-AC5300 which I believe is a total redesign over that of the RT-AC88U and others before the RT-AC5300. The code is so different that RMerlin is not doing support for the GT-AC5300 currently. We found the best way to get ASUS to take notice was to open support tickets with them and also use a feature found in the ADMIN tab on the firmware. The last tab on the GT-AC5300 is for FEEDBACK. You can use the logs, info etc to let ASUS know of errors you are seeing with all the details they need to see. Some ISPs block the port that this feature uses and you will only need to follow the instructions, cut paste into a standard email and send it to the email address listed on the instructions. If they did, it's not working on my router (RT-AC88U) which came with 3.0.0.4.380_7743 but I updated to 3.0.0.4.382_15850 when I set it up. So, different router but still the same problem.

What is the consensus on using smart connect? I've seen some posts with good results and some posts saying not to use it all.
About the FW, should i use the asus website ones or there is some place that i can get beta ones and/or better fw`s for this one?
