Any news about a new Fw or at least a new fw after 20311?

Taiwan is currently on a national holiday for their Lunar New Year, so nothing is going to happen for about a week or so.
 
I’m totally new to all this and probably bought over my head when I purchased this on my kids suggestion. My old Linksys has all the names for the devices connected to it. All this one has is MAC addresses. Am I missing some setting or something?
Is there any benefit to running IPV6? The guy at the store mentioned it but I know nothing about it and was wondering if I should start learning.

Sometimes the names show up, give it a bit of time to populate. Otherwise, you can rename them and even assign your own icons (images) to them.

There are some benefits to running IPv6 but would you notice them? Not sure. It's the default in some cases (Microsoft) and is more efficient and secure. Does your modem support it? (it probably does and if it doesn't, you probably need a new modem, with it being so old, assuming your ISP supports it)

We're migrating to IPv6 and will eventually become mandatory, so there's no point in putting it off.

(I don't know why so many people are running Xboxes IPv4 with its NAT issues; IPv6 eliminates these problems.)

Because most ISPs don't support IPv6, or have a half-broken implementation.

None of the major Canadian ISPs support IPv6 right now.

It doesn’t matter if you use IPv6 on Xbox. No games use/take advantage of it and you still get a closed NAT error if you don’t have the ports forwarded properly or are not using UPnP. I tested this by disabling UPnP and not opening the Xbox live ports with IPv6 enabled and it was still saying closed NAT. Unless Comcast is one of those ISP’s that have broken implementation of IPv6.

There are a lot of moving parts here, which means a lot can be misconfigured. A firewall would do the same thing (the router has an IPv6 firewall, as it should, and if those ports aren't open, you'll get the same result).

Test each layer to ensure it is working before troubleshooting the Xbox application (which should be network-agnostic but if they, for example, only allow IPv4 dotted-decimal input rather than any valid IP address or FQDN, then they messed up and you're stuck).

Our ISPs don't feel the rush to move to an overengineered standard, as long they don't have an actual need for it since they have much smaller subscriber bases. Once they do, hopefully it will be more reliable than deployments made by early adopters.

That’s what I was trying to convey in my post but wasn’t clear. Xbox doesn’t allow you to enter any IPv6 information only IPv4 and Xbox Live doesn’t have IPv6 ports that can be forewarded that I’m aware of. Xbox only appears to recognize that you have IPv6 enabled on your network and displays that you have an IPv6 address assigned, but that seems to be the extent of it.

Maybe Google will compel IPv6 deployment by making Chrome not work on IPv4 anymore. :D

I'm not aware of any special ports for Xbox either. Except for port 3544. It seems to be the only port that has anything to do with IPv6. Teredo tunneling 6to4. MS came up with this and it might send some data using IPv6. But its kind of a grey area to be honest. Even here in the US IPv6 seems limited. What is strange about this port is MS was hoping to have this disabled by 2014 thinking everyone would be on Native IPv6 by now. 2018 and its still being used. And Xbox does communicate a lot on this port. When I set up my ASUS router the only option that worked for me was Native IPv6. Which then makes me wonder if port 3544 should be even used then. When I disable IPv6 I don't see that port being used. The minute I do enable IPv6 that port is used exclusively.. So maybe then that is actually communicating through IPv6.. I sure wish my ISP knew what type of IPv6 I should be using or have..lol. I love calling them its such a pleasure.. :p[/QUOTE]

Your ISP should have a forum with some knowledgeable people on it; Comcast and TWC/Spectrum do. Otherwise, the LAN and WAN forum here perhaps..? (I haven't visited it yet) A better way is to just configure it for native and test it (e.g. Ping google from a PC, which type of address shows? Do you have IPv6 DNS servers configured and can you ping them?)

The 311 firmware is linked a few posts back. I flashed it thinking the hourly debug messages were fixed but they aren't; I don't know what the difference is.

I take it there aren't different implementations of IPv6 on the Xbox? (native vs. tunneling)
 
If anybody gives a hoot, besides having entware useable on gt-ac5300... Manged to get dropbear {stock rom} workin sftp-server..

Does any one know if the port conflict bug has been fixed yet?
the bug that involves 2 games reqesting the same port number but the router redirecting it incorrectly to a port thats not with in the games supported port range or not binging the outgoing port to the incoming port correctly on the second game client resulting in one game with open nat the other with moderate nat.
Merlin fixed it for models he supports in his firmware im wondering if this unit has a firmware update that has fixed the issue for it, since im considering purchasing one but that is the only issue that prevents me from buying one. I saw one going for cheaper than the normal reatil price in a pc shop and a local electronics shop that stocks them was willing to price match.
