RT-BE88U and RT-BE7200

I think I know the answer to this but I want to make sure, is RT-BE7200 (sold at Best Buy) and RT-BE88U the same device? If I pick up the RT-BE7200 will I run into any issues flashing the RT-BE88U Merlin build?

Thanks!

If you buy from BB, don't forget the 15% off coupon from BB when you bring in any old router for recycling and buy a new router from them. It doesn't have to be a router on the shelf in the store. Any router they list for sale on the BB site is fair game.

Thank you, that's exactly the reason I want to get it at Best Buy so wanted to make sure it's indeed the same BE88U. Great deal!

I wonder what they would give me for that box that contains an RT-N66U, RT-AC66U, RT-AC56U, RT-AC68U_V4, RT-AC68U_V3, RT-AC88U, RT-AC5300, RT-AC86U and GT-AC2900.

Just for kicks I had a look at the BB Website for Canada and the US, but none of those are (unsurprisingly) listed for sale.

I’d still love to see you wander in with your box of goodies though … and if they frown and say “sorry, cannot”, just pull out the old chestnut “Do you know who I am …”

Used that Best Buy Networking Recycle and Save 15% discount in 2023 to get a RT-AX86U Pro. I turned in what was likely a 10+ year old Belkin F7D7301 router that I cannot remember where it was purchased. Kept that old long unused Belkin around for just this reason, Best Buy discount. They told me at the time the discount could only be used once per household and supposedly only once per year. The BB recycle link indicates the following:
Only 1 coupon per purchase and can only be used once. Limit one coupon per household, per offer.

Yeah the web page doesn't indicate a year restriction, but at my local Best Buy store the person claimed they (probably just their store) limit it to once a year to prevent people coming in and using the 15% discount repeatedly to clear out the shelves and sell the items online. May have been BS, but that's what they said to me at the time. Could be their individual store policy. Another local Best Buy store, before it was closed down, wouldn't even honor the recycling program discounts on hard drives when Best Buy ran deep discounts on hard drives. Was irritating to have to drive to a more distant store to get the recycling discount honored.
