Can somebody explain me - can I modify udpxy config and add also additional iptables rules using Merlin firmware?
For example I want that udpxy stream multicast to all interfaces (including WAN) with this command: /usr/sbin/udpxy -m eth0 -p 4000 without -a key. In stock firmware it runs /usr/sbin/udpxy -m eth0 -p 4000 -a br0

Thanks.

Please, refer to Merlin's Wiki. You may add additional iptables rules to /jffs/scripts/firewall-start and restart udpxy with /jffs/scripts/services-start script this way:
Code:
#!/bin/sh

killall udpxy
/usr/sbin/udpxy -m eth0 -p 4000

I have a pair of TTL Serial to USB adapters on their way from China. Should make debugging a tad easier for me (so far I've been developing pretty much blind...)

Just out of curiosity, how do you use that "device" and how is it usefull for a developper/debugger ?

The firmware outputs a lot of debugging info through the router's internal serial port. For instance, the whole boot process is logging there.

That serial port uses 3.3V signaling instead of the standard RS-232 12V. It also uses 0-3.3V levels (called TTL levels) instead of the usual -12V / +12V, so you need a special adapter to be able to connect it to a computer.

When something in the kernel crashes, the debug output is sent to that serial port (since the router doesn't have a local console like a normal PC would have).

Please, refer to Merlin's Wiki. You may add additional iptables rules to /jffs/scripts/firewall-start and restart udpxy with /jffs/scripts/services-start script this way:
Code:
#!/bin/sh

killall udpxy
/usr/sbin/udpxy -m eth0 -p 4000

How I can delay running this script? Looks like it starts earlier than unpxy and not able to kill and run again without -a key.
Thanks.

Okay, this one is kind of interesting. I've started to see weird client list behavior where I click on the Network Map page to get the client list to show up in the right hand sub-window ("Client Status" for client list), and a list of clients shows up that needs to be refreshed. So I click on "Refresh" in "Client Status" window, and get a the attached response in the "Client Status" window.

Just as a note, as one might suspect, reloading the page later (clicking on either "Reload" or "Refresh" later) doesn't refresh the client list, just gives the same error *smile*.

Any ideas what should be happening that isn't? Or what I can do to fix this? Seems like whatever should be returning the refreshed client list data isn't running at all.

Seems to be working correctly again this morning, don't know what problem was occurring last night. Nothing in the log about it. Hope I don't see it again.

Thanks Merlin, I must have had a geriatric moment!
I am still on 24, haven't gone to 25b as yet!
DST is obviously an added feature on 25b.

DST has been there in the original firmware for as long as I have used an RT-N66U, all the way back to 3.0.0.3.90.

Note that the option might not appear for timezones where they do not have any DST.

Right here...

I am in Adelaide Australia. We have DST at the moment.
I only have ever seen "Remind: The System time zone is different from your locale setting"

Untitled.jpg

I just changed my location to Darwin (same time zone as Adelaide) and now I see that option!
I tried other times zones in Australia (Sydney for example) that have DST and the manual DST option is not there.

Problem with Voip on 25b

I have an Asterisk/FreePBX PBX running on a separate server in the local net, none of my Voip trunks was registering anymore with 25b. Had to switch back to 24. No idea what the cause might be, didn't have problems with previous versions. Sorry.

Disable the SIP helper on the Firewall page.

Well again I know this post has no info/help related to your latest release Merlin. But after about a week so far using the .345 beta release from Asus on my N66U. I have to say the updated wireless drivers for me, have worked very well. Haven't had no complaints from anyone about wireless dropout's, and such.

I am in no way saying thing's are perfect with the newer wireless drivers. I just know I have seen a lot more stable 2.4ghz band between my N66U, and a connected extender. As for the 5ghz band, as I have mention before I also have a extender connected to it, which has a xbox 360 connected. Which is used often to play call of duty, so connection does matter, and no complaints yet.

Disable the SIP helper on the Firewall page.

There is no help if you hover above this item.
What does it do?

I use a SIP phone connected to one ethernet port.
It works fine with this option enabled.

The SIP helper is a Linux Netfilter module that helps passing SIP packages through NAT. While it helps when you use a SIP phone (which only does outbound connections), it will create problems if you host a PBX such as Asterisk that needs to accept inbound connections.

So basically: enable this for a phone, and disable it if you host a server.

Speaking of wireless signal strength, I've noticed that the 5GHz. wireless has gained a couple of bars at the Roku in my living room. It was 2 bars previous to the .270 wireless drivers, and is now about 4 bars, a really good improvement. So it has gone from marginally to usable there to very usable. No other changes that I'm aware of...the Roku is in the same place and orientation, as is the router.

Thanks.

Disable the SIP helper on the Firewall page.

Tried again:
24: Sip helper enabled, no problems.
Had no problems before with 22 either (Sip helper enabled).

24->25b:
Asterisk log: chan_sip.c: -- Registration for 'xxxxxxx@sip.xxxxxxxxx.com' timed out, trying again (Attempt #12)
None of the 4 Voip trunks is registering.
Disabled Sip helper.
Did not change the situation.
Disabled all the Sip trunks and waited for 10 minutes.
Enabled one Sip trunk: not registering.
Enabled all 4: not registering.

Switched back 25b->24:
Manual reboot: switched on/off the router.
4 voip trunks working immediatly (Sip helper still disabled).

Hope you have a clue what might make the difference.

I have an RT-N66U with a new wireless problem that I noticed since the upgrade from 266.23 to 270.25b.

My iPhone 4 and iPad 1 receive an excellent signal from the router (-45dBi through two walls), but they also experience a periodic loss of WiFi, about once a minute, for less than two seconds. Most of my apps report a lost connection when this occurs. I cannot say whether this is also happening on the Macs; maybe the timing is too short for the airport icon to change, and the AppleTV doesn't seem to care either, or the drop may also be too short to notice.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Hi,

I had a similar effect with my smartphones and tablets (not from Apple) due to interferences with other WLANs on the same channel.

I used inSSIDer to find out a free channel and used fixed channel to avoid to much interferences - now the connection is stable.

With kind regards
Joe

PS.: Not sure if there is a inSSIDer equivalent software for Macs, but there should be somthing for iPhones, to show used WLAN channels...
