During startup, I see this in syslog. Is this normal?
Code:
May 5 07:05:09 kernel: usb usb2-port2: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
May 5 07:05:09 kernel: xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0: Cannot set link state.
May 5 07:05:09 kernel: usb usb2-port2: cannot disable (err = -32)

And what about this?
Code:
Oct 4 11:08:27 avahi-daemon[2911]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!

They're all normal messages that have been there for years.

BTW I set Auto-Logout to 30 mins and don't get logged out at all (well, after a few days anyway, multiple times).
(GT-AX6000)
Entertainingly it just worked, perhaps as I left the browser window open??? (Earlier it was still logged in after closing the browser window yesterday, unless there's some auto-logion option I missed.)
As far as I know, normal if you close the tab/browser - the timer stops and logout never occurs. Have always been so for me with this and previous ASUS router (other brands too).
Works only while on open page.

How can I resolve this?
I have Diversion, Skynet, connmon.
The AX86S has only ½Gig of ram, whilst skynet and Diversion can be memory intensive (especially if Diversion is logging dnsmasq).
Go into Administration and disable jffs scripts with a reboot - see how much memory you get back.

Same here with my GT-AX6000, works like a charm.

does anyone know why there is ppp echo and interval settings in the wan section when my connection is automatic ip?

Gotta give a 👏👏 to merlin, don't know how you did it,I didn't think 388 fw was ever gonna be stable on my rt-ax86u,the official asus fw is still broken, been running it for 6weeks and ive not noticed a single issue, not 1 error in the logs ,it's been absolutely rock solid for me thank you

AX86U Pro uptime at 43 days - thank you Merlin!

Bug in CIDR Notation for Network Services Filter on RT-AX86UPro and AX88UPro.

On a fresh config, 388.4 I can filter a single IP, but cannot enter a subnet/block using CIDR notation, the webpage just refreshes with nothing changed.

Tested on my AX-86U (non-plus) aimesh node, same thing. I can filter a single IP but no-go for anything in CIDR.

I tried different chromium and mozilla browsers, and they all fail. Nothing strange appears in the console. The problem seems to be in the firmware or gui. Individual or asterisked values results in a % completion screen, refresh, and the values are in the table.

Anything CIDR just displays "Applying settings", then a pause, then a refresh but nothing has changed.

On both a completely reset RT-AX88UPro and RT-AX86UPro Merlin 388.2_2 accepts CIDR notation no problem.
Merlin 3004.388.4 does not accept CIDR notation (same issues as on the AX-86U_Pro)

I downgraded my production AX-86U_Pro to 388.2_2, and CIDR notation works fine. 3004.388.4 breaks CIDR.

Each router was fully reset between each test and flash. First thing I did after required minimum setup was test the Network Services Filter.

And once I put my production router back into service (manually, no config restore), upgrading to 388.4 breaks CIDR. Downgrading to 388.2_2 restores capability.

Any thoughts on this? I would like to be able to use 388.4, but this bug is a glaring prohibition.

can't gett 388 stable for there customers

What is so unstable in 388 base? It has bugs here and there, but works well for average home router users. Most will never notice the bugs. Asuswrt-Merlin firmware works on very small % of Asus routers and everything closed source is exactly the same coming from Asus, Broadcom, TrendMicro, etc.

up for 22 days, connected 4 SSD drives, many add-ons running (skynet, unbound, dn-vnstat, conmon, spdmerlin, ntpmerlin, scmerlin,YazDHCP). transmission running permanently.

no issues, memory is fine - no problems here.
