Change the language of the router to English, reboot, and see if the setting sticks/works then.

@karateca Remove the tls:// from the hostnames and any trailing /. Just use the domain name given.

First post, and hoping this is the right place.

I've been using AsusWRT-Merlin for several years now. First with my RT-AC86U and now with my RT-AX88U Pro. I've never had issues upgrading from one Merlin version to the next - it just works every time.

But today, I'm trying to upgrade from 3004.388.5 to 3004.388.6 and it's not taking. I upload the file to the router and it goes through the update process. First time I did it, it came back to the router page as if nothing had happened, and firmware version was still 3004.388.5. Second time I did it, same process, and at the end it asked me to manually reboot the router. After the manual reboot/power cycle, the router firmware remained at 3004.388.5.

Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.

hi, i do it but same, dont save the config and show me this log.
Before saving the config, open the browser console window with F12 key, and watch the “Console” tab for errors after you click Apply. Post a screenshot of the page.

Now try to add the DoT servers and post the same screenshot after hitting apply. You might delete your previous screenshots from your posts since there is some ISP user information there and your custom Adguard domain.

I've never yet encountered this situation, so what I have to say is based purely on supposition. In other words, have some salt ready...

I would, in the Administration / Restore/Save/Upload Setting tab, tick the box by (Factory Default) Restore and click "Restore". After re-establishing adequate contact, /then/ upload the firmware file.

Things to try:
Try clearing Browser Cache.
Unplug any USB ad on devices.
Electrical Reset Router followed by immediate flashing.

Edit: you are on a new router, when you converted from stock to rmerlin you were supposed to do a factory reset with the box checked to clear the entire unit before setting it up.

If after the above, if it still does not successfully flash, then you need to "Restore" to get it going properly.

Next I will try changing auto logoff from zero to 999 minutes (the maximum allowed).
Since I changed Auto Logout from zero to 999 three days ago, it has not logged me out at all. It has been continuously updating for way more than 999 minutes.

Please tell ASUS that the Auto Logout = 0 setting is broken in 388.6. It appears that 999 now functions like 0 did previously, but the setting page still says (Disable : 0), which does not work.

Firstly, Welcome to the Forum!
I know this is really simple reply - but have you double checked that you downloaded the AX88U PRO version and not the older AX88U version? They aren't the same. Since you're a long-time Merlin user I'd assume you would have gotten the right one, but you never know.

Thanks for the welcome! Checked again to confirm, because... my brain is simply rejecting caffeine today. Definitely the correct file. RT-AX88U_PRO_3004_388.6_0_nand_squashfs.pkgtb :-/

Tried clearing cache, same results. Don't have any add-on USB devs. I did do a factory reset on initial config back in December.

I am going to do a router power cycle, try to flash immediately after, see if that helps. If not, I might have to wait to do a full reset and reconfig from scratch. 😣

This will be my final step, once I can spend some time reconfiguring my stuff. With both my partner and I working from home, and running a home network, I need to be planful with our downtimes. Who would have thought I'd have to think about HA on a home network setup, LOL
