RMerlin has repeatedly addressed such questions in other posts. They are at the mercy of Asus releasing 3006 GPL's which apparently has been confined to just a few devices. For example see several of RMerlin's posts in the following:

I experienced this issue a few fw upgrades previously, and a "reboot" fixed usb issues.

Latest RMerlin's are working well and without issue!

Mine failed to mount on the first reboot after upgrade but has been successful on all subsequent reboots.

It also lost my swap file & I had to recreate it.

Had exact same problem on a remote unit. Had to SSH in using Wireguard (as Tailscale is on the USB SSD) and reboot it a few times using the CLI, then it came back.
Had me worried for a while. Otherwise all good, many thanks to RMerlin.
