I don't know how your computer is managing to display it, because it's definitely blocked here:
sorry chap but this just does not work for me, i set yandex as global and it will block it no issue. set nortons and reboot and sure enough big titties staring me in the face on my n66u.

going to do a factory reset in a mo and give it another bash to be sure.

question for you, opendns, is it the family shield ? http://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/parental-controls/opendns-familyshield/

Hopefully I'm not asking a question that's been beat to death (new job, been living under a rock), but was the .39 release pulled for the RT-AC66?

I see it for download for the RT-AC68, and the RT-N56, but the AC66 listed build is still on 38.2.

I see that as well not sure why.

I see that as well not sure why. Just download the one for the n66 it's all the same firmware.

That is bad advice: never update firmware that is from another model.

Even if they are based on the same chipset.

Unless you can afford to throw it away in less than 3 minutes?

They are the identical firmware are they not ? At any rate your probably right my bad.

No idea what's going on then. This is also working fine for me.

All I can think is that perhaps Norton's service might not work in certain countries. The implementation in the router is definitely working as intended, as you can see in this screenshot.

That'll be the real reason behind this and all the other similar reports, I believe.
Thanks for responding...I'll stay at yandex for the time being.
Being able to set this in .39 for individual clients is a real plus.
Thanks Merlin for your time&efforts...donation sent.

Wow I like this build good job Merlin

Hi guys

Jus installed the firmware, made a factory reset, made all the configs again :)

But i saw the overclock feature, and it`s not working for me :( , when i click at the back button at my 68U it freezes and i have to disable the OC and reboot it, would like to enable the 1000Mghz, is there any way?

Another thing, about the JFS partition, can you take a look if everything is ok in my system? i saw in the admin section that i can format this one, should i?

Here is my 68U system image, let me know about the OC and the system if everything is right

@Merlin, can you check for me?

factory reset didn't work, only yandex seems to stick on my 66u
Hey guys!,
I am getting conflicting results using Norton Connect Family depending on the browser that I use. When I use Google Chrome it seems to work very well but when I try Firefox I don't get the same results and many of the sites that s/b blocked are completely open. Maybe it's just me?

Cheers!

I don't know what's going on with Mediafire, but there's been 2-3 persons reporting that they cannot see the AC66U build, while I do see it fine here, and the download stats also shows that hundreds of people have successfully downloaded it. All I can suggest is to try clearing your browser cache, or trying a different browser.

No idea, they don't seem to post the DNS IPs on that registration page. I'm using 208.67.222.222 as the nameserver, no idea if you are supposed to use a different IPs when signing up to that service.

No, lots of differences between the two.

Then all I can think is that Norton isn't allowing you to filter out using their DNS for some reason. There's nothing special about it from the code side of things, it's just the IP that will be different based on which filtering service you enable on the webui, and it's definitely the correct IP in the list since it works here.

You could take a look at OpenDNS too if you want a better alternative that won't scare your kids with Russian error pages, or having Youtube streams being sent from an European server.

Firefox has its own internal DNS cache, make sure you quit Firefox and start it again before testing I just tested with Firefox, and Redtube did get blocked, so maybe you were getting the site IP from Firefox's internal DNS cache.

It must be browser related i cant see it on my ipad but it shows fine on my laptop using chrome.

Could be, tho I think one report came from a Chrome user too.

I suspect it's more likely caused by Mediafire's servers not all being in-sync (I assume they use a server farm and not one single server to serve all requests).

I'll try deleting one of the older firmwares from that folder just in case it might force them to resync on their end.

Good question.
I think it's not.

I created an account on the OpenDNS website.
There you can configure the way you want OpenDNS to act.
It works very nice. (Porn is blocked.)

However you have to make an account to get it to work.
OpenDNS FamilyShield could be a nice addition as a Filter mode.
No fuss creating an OpenDNS account.

Maybe ditch the Norton setting which doesn't work for a lot of us.
Replace it with the OpenDNS FamilyShield. :)
