No idea what could cause it, perhaps your upload wan speeds are slow? I never use that feature, I find it too much of a risk and prefer ssh tunnels for internal LAN access (including the router's web interface). Another option is some kind of VPN, but it's too complicated of a solution.

I see that Merlin addressed those still experiencing NTP issues above; I would add try rebooting from the webpage, making certain first to remove any USB devices. We had an NTP issue resolve after a reboot (reboots were also required to get our OpenVPN working but everything is now stable).

We are not experiencing any particular issues with the 378-56 Beta 2 release with our RT-AC3200 and trust that any remaining nits will be resolved.

Thank you Merlin for all your hard work; your effort adds a lot of value to these ASUS routers and is deeply appreciated by many.

Best to all

I noticed the ntp issue reoccurring after a reboot as well as losing my overclock so I have put this in services-start for now

#!/bin/sh
nvram set clkfreq=1200,800
nvram commit

sleep 5
service restart_wan

Your OC stick if you do that? Can you tell me how put it in services-start?

There are no drop issues anymore. At least not more than on any other router for both, the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz bands, regardless of the chipset manufacturer. Some iPad users keep talking about their iPads being disconnected after waking them from sleep, but AFAIK that's it. I'm also not sure whether or not every iPad user can reproduce these. So the only thing that they're working on are the drain issues.

That is good news. I didn't know they fixed the 5ghz drops.

Hope they can fix the drain issue too then. :)

I foud bug. I use dhcp static list with my devices, but in network map some of my wifi devices like phones/tablets name is not the same as i write in dhcp static.

On asus fw 9177 all devices have the same name in network map and in dhcp static.

Btw. Maybe a good idea to change the static list of DHCP on the same way as in asus fw ? We would have one standard static DHCP list .
I suspect that this will be less of a problem for the future. (future asus changes etc.)

btw. i have this problem also in earlier build like .55

I have updated from .55 to .56 Beta 1 then Beta 2 without factory resets and the only problem I had was the NTP daylight savings time was off by 1 hour.

Networkmap is a description, while DHCP Static list is a hostname. Different things.

And as I told you when you posted the same thing in the beta 1 thread, Asus shows the same because Asus ONLY shows the description. They do not let you specify a hostname.

The reason why I'm not using Asus's DHCP implementation is because of that.

AC3200 here running 56beta 1. I can't seem to update to beta2. It complains the image isn't valid. I redownloaded it twice and the shasum matches what the file says it should.

I had the same problem, a reboot of the router solved the problem (uptime was 5 days).

Hi Merlin,

first of all, let me congratulate you, for excellent work.

I have an Asus AC56U, and use 4G dongle as Internet source.

Dongle Huawei E392:
1. Router recognizes it as Huawei device.
2. Connects successful to my ISP.

Dongle Huawei E3276:
1. Router recognizes it as Huawei device.
2. Cannot connect to my ISP.

I'm using exactly the same configuration for both dongles, but i cannot get success with E3276 model.

It's a known issue?.....Any missing drivers for it?

Regards.
I do not know how many times Merlin has to answer dual-WAN related questions with the following:

The dual WAN code is entirely handled by Asus. Any issues involving dual WAN should be addressed to Asus even if using AsusWRT-Merlin.

I see. Do you think Asus are any closer to solving the 5ghz drops and drain issues? I'm thinking of reverting to my AC68U for the moment. I miss the 5ghz. ;-)
My battery drain issue is much improved with 378.56_beta2 as it was with beta1. My Note 2 no longer goes through 1.5-2 batteries per day and now has about 40% left at days end.

RMerlin this is my first post in .56 topic.

btw. can i edit hostname and description i Your fw ? If YES, then right, Your implementation is better, but if no, then no, becouse when i go to network map i want to see my device called as I called them , and not some bizarre descriptions that do not know where they come from .

Description can be edited on the networkmap itself (click on the icon, then click on the name field at the top).

DHCP-provided hostname is editable on the DHCP reservation page.

so in network map i Your FW i can see what I typed myself ?

But i want have also in NETWORK MAP and in LAN>DHCP the same name. In original firmware 9177 is ok. In networkmap and lan>dhcp also have the same name. In your is bug but when i add adress in LAN>DHCP and in this add name... then on network map is other name. Not the same. It is wron that i must add name first on LAN>DHCP and then again edit client on NETWORK MAP and again add my NAME. This is not normal.

Why you dont want implement edit and description which was implemented by asus in one of last firmware ?

maybe we need additional field named description in dhcp static that there was no need to change it in two places ???

I am still having issues with Adaptive QOS on .56 Beta 2 that I had in .55. When I set my upload and download maximum bandwidths to 150mpbs each, on speedtests, my download speeds are capped to 50mpbs while my upload speeds reaches my ISP theoretical speed of 150mbps. Disabling Adaptive QOS returns my download speed to 150mbps.

Edit: Forgot to include my router model, AC56U.
