Yes, here we are: on "USB application" section, in SAMBA WebUI settings, if you try to set "Allow guest access" the related settings on smb.conf seems not affected. Indeed I checked and the following 2 commands have been set differently than my last backup of smb.conf file on jffs:

Code:
security = USER
guest ok = no

In order to allow the acces from guest they are supposed to be:

Code:
security = SHARE
guest ok = yes

Could you check if this starnge behaviour is reproducible from you also? In this case I did a fresh install of 380.59 by resetting all the NVRAM/jffs parameters

Works properly for me. Make sure you're not overriding it with a /jffs/configs/smb.conf file. Also don't forget to apply the settings after enabling Guest mode.

Upgraded my AC3200 from .58 to .59. Now the web interface to config the router is so SLOW to use. Takes like 45sec to 1 min to nav it. Anyone else seeing this? Roll back to .58 and it's fine.

This has been reported a number of times. Just wait for some time and afterwards this should not reoccur anymore.

Indeed it was the override of the smb.conf file on jffs. Thanks

I'm not aware of any particular issues with Adaptive QoS. It's what I use, tho my network gets very little traffic, so I'm not a good test case.

Most people reported getting better latency when using Adaptive QoS. But that could be because they prioritize ICMP packets (one more reason NOT to rely on pings when trying to assert the efficiency of a QoS implementation, unless you make sure not to prioritize ping packets).

Thanks. I noticed when I choose Automatic instead of Manual for Bandwidth Setting, and hit apply, it switches to Manual for me to enter in Up/Download speeds. Not sure if this is a bug, as in previous builds, it would let me set automatic, and be done with it.

Rather late to the party...Thanks, Merlin and keep up the great work. Recent upgrades working well.

SMB2 tends to reduce performance, because the router's bottleneck is its CPU rather than the network.

Even weirder is that it seems Windows 10 will no longer negotiate an SMB2 protocol. My PC only does 1.5 or 3.0 now.
My Windows 10 machine also does not negotiate SMB2 protocol with an RT-AC68u running ...59 firmware, even after wasting too much time trying to fiddle with the Windows 10 settings to make it happen.

It is also true that in general am having no particular trouble using SSD drives on the Merlin router, one on the router's USB 3.0 port and the other on the USB 2.0 port (through a USB 2.0 hub).

Firmware upgrade unsuccessful. This may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try again.?

Router Asus RT-N66U ( in AP mode ) firmware 3.0.0.4.380_3264-g79f6bde

This I have not previously had, I tried everything already.
-Miscell aneous firmwares
-reboot router
-clean nvram
-miscellaneous browsers
-restore factory setting

only the firmware on the router (3.0.0.4.380_3264-g79f6bde) State he grabs??

does anyone here know the solution of

Can't downgrade from this version.
Try rescue mode.

rescue mode does not work according to manual. Is still weird, that asus will decide now that you don't Merlin firmware can install anymore. I want to choose which firmware I install. What now ... I wanted to put the firmware on the router the last Merlin. I have the RT-N66U

So does FQ_Codel not work on the 5300?

The issue is with Traditional QoS, not with fq_codel. Traditional QoS is broken on the AC88/AC3100/AC5300.

Read Asus's announcement here.

It's just a temporary transitional situation, until Asus can establish the new certification system, and work out its implementation with third party developers.

Power cycled the router, same issue. I'll hold off on QOS for now.

On 380.58 the statistic tab on traffic analyzer was giving me a more realistic reading than on 380.59. On 380.59 the reading is way too low for my clients. Is anyone else experiencing that too? I'm using the RT-AC88U.

Hi. First time on this forum.... Think I have had / used most of the routers out there on the market. In the end I have always returned to ASUS. AC66, AC68, AC87 and now latest an AC5300. Tried the stock FW in between...but always returned to Merlin. My AC68 has always been and is rock solid and superfast. My best router ever...
I live in Sweden and my ISP is Telia with the speed 250/100MBit.

Although my AC5300 is not to my satisfactory. I loose Connection on both 2.4 and 5GHZ, also on the LAN.....like small hickups....also slow in connecting..The router also blocks alot of homepages like gais.se and gt.se speednet and bredbandskollen.se my son has also big problems to connect to Minecraft.......(these are only a few examples) there are more websites with problems. Using 380.59. PLS Help

Regardless, it won't work in its current state because traditional QoS is broken. Correct?
Neither would sfq.

Setup: Two ac66u running .59 (router + access point).

I have trouble setting the channels manually. If I disables auto and set the channel to lets say 100 (5 GHz). Then after "applying settings" the GUI shows auto again and the channel is set to *some* frequency mostly not 100... (bandwith 20/40/80).

I can verify this strange behavior with an external wifi listener (Acrylic WiFi Professional) and I have the same behavior on both devices.
