Router seems to be working fine, is there anything i should be changing/fixing?

Thanks

Long time issue. Anything Trend Mrco related causes this. Only way to make it stop is to stop using anything Trend Micro and retract your permission in the privacy section.

There is tons of thread on this issue.

OK thanks for the info.

I searched for that Kernel console error but couldnt find anything that matched what i was seeing.

Aren't you referring to the wlc_ampdu_init_tid_ini messages? That is not the same as "dcd Tainted".

I dont know to be honest.

My log is full of them lines and i dont know what any of it means. I was hopeing someone with better knowledge of the inner workings of the router could tell me if something was wrong, not working, or needed changed.

Cheers

The dcd tainted is an indicator of the long standing trend micro issues (back to about sep or oct 2019 I think). The console stuff IMO is a byproduct of the TM errors.

disable the TM as Jeffrey described above, clear your log, reboot for extra measure, then see if the errors (all of them) go away.

RE: Router Log Entries
Looking at the log entries is similar to looking at my car engine.
Everything is running smooth and The Family isn't complaining, so why should I look at the engine (router log) that I would mess up on my own.

Stay Safe Everyone

Been using 386.1_2 since release AX58U. So far very solid release. Don't use scrips but i do use DNS/TLS speeds are excellent GUI is stable and the internet just works. Once again Thank You @Merlin. :)

.

3) On the 5Ghz wifi setting under "Control Channel" set to "Auto" and the option "Auto select channel including DFS channels" is off the 5Ghz wifi still sometimes using DFS channels like channel 100.
I have an AC86U also, I don't recall seeing a "Auto select channel including DFS channels" option. Where exactly is this option?

Other question is there a differenz between usb 2.0 and usw 3.0 with and external ssd, wahat would you recommend and why?

As you have noticed, the constant crashing does not seem to hurt anything. Just more of an annoyance in the logs. It is not right mind you. That is certainly the cause of the dcd tainted crash.

It only show up if your region allows DFS channels. It should be a check box besides the channel box if supported (Ex. if the country code is US, it shows up, if CA, does not show up).

Thanks, Merlin. I thought that there were minimal changes in the short lived A2 and the latest final. I'll try it and see if it addresses the problem...

well worth the effort - like you I was on A2 and went to the final without factory resetting, temps had been a bit high on my ac86u (about 88 degrees C), after a factory reset and full reconfig temps are stable a good 10 degrees lower (78 degrees C) with the exact same settings

I'm in the US and do not see it. How do you check the region the router is set too?

Control Channel must be Auto (not recommended anyway).

From an cli window (ssh), use the "wl" command. I'll check more tonight, but I think it is "wl country"

Thanks @dave14305

1) Haven't checked.

2) I just set AP isolated on the 2.4 GHz channel, and I can still access my LAN devices (other computers) via 5 GHz. And setting AP isolated on 5 GHz still allows me to access LAN devices from 2.4 GHz. Both of the devices that I accessed are wired, so perhaps that's making a difference.

3) I know its not an answer to your question, but I suggest moving away from auto channel assignment. Your wifi will be more stable.

Hi thank you for your replay but when setting AP isolation on 2.4Ghz or on 5Ghz you should access the main wired LAN from either 2.4Ghz and from 5Ghz. AP isolation should only limit access wireless clients from communicate between one to another not to the main wired LAN?

When i set AP isolation on 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wireless clients can not communicate to my main wired LAN.

So I saw a post to use these:
nvram show | grep wl._country
nvram get territory_code

jadmin@RT-AC86U-07F8:/tmp/home/root# nvram show | grep wl._country
size: 69441 bytes (61631 left)
wl0_country_code=Q2
wl0_country_rev=992
wl1_country_code=Q2
wl1_country_rev=992
jadmin@RT-AC86U-07F8:/tmp/home/root# nvram get territory_code
US/02
jadmin@RT-AC86U-07F8:/tmp/home/root#

My country code is Q2 (Not sure what that is) but territory is US/02 so that suggests to me that it is US. So, I am not sure why that Auto select Channel including DFS channels does not show up in my setup when Auto is selected
