When I switched from 384.3 to 384.4 on my RT-AC88U, I noticed that my Nvidia Shield wasn't able to connect to the network drives.

After searching on the internet why that was, I found that the Shield only supports SMBv1. So I set the Samba protocol version to "SMBv1 + SMBv2". My Shield connects perfectly to the network drives on my windows 10 PC, but it won't connect to the USB3 drive connected to the router, or it takes a long time to connect and only shows some of the folders that are on that drive.

I've all the settings on the "Network Place (Samba) Share" Tab, but nothing seems to work.

I need a sollution for this, because it's very annoying.

I wonder when Nvidia will update the firmware for the sheild? SMB v1 is dead, time for everyone to move on.

Sorry to bring up an old issue I had six monthes ago, already discussed in the 380.68 topic , maybe a new eye can help.

My problem is, and yet I haven't figured out why, if i turn on AI Protection on my RT-AC87U, the router crashes (stops responding, I'm forced to power cycle it) within 5 minutes after boot.
It happened on 390.68 so I turned AI Protection off since that, but I just tried it today on lastest 384.4, same issue.
Even if I disable all 3 options under AI protection (two-way ips, dns filtering, and malicious website blocking), leaving just the global AI Protection turned on, it crashes.
If I reset router settings and try to re-enter my settings one by one, I can't nail the problem, but il all comes down to AI Protection in the end.
It's not really a big deal, as I will continue to not use it for lack of any other option, but if someone has an idea on that matter, that could be helpful :)

Thanks

Does that mean you have not done any factory reset since upgrading from 380 to 384?
If not, it is a must to do so.
Also, don’t think it is a firmware issue since it has been stable for many. Must have some conflict/corruption that cause the crush. So best try and error solution is a factory reset before we judge.

Yes, I wasn't clear enough, I did a factory reset on 384 too.
I'm also sure it is not a firmware issue, but I can't figure out the reason, so I guess I will continue to avoid AI Protection, because trying different settings is really time consuming.
I was just fishing out for a clue, but no need to worry more, the router works brilliantly without AI, for my needs :D

Np.. i also trial and error. No idea. Haha.. change router! :p

Hahaha, good advice ;)
But it's working so good, I'm afraid I could have more problems by changing it :p

a factory reset since? I'm about to embark on a 380 to 384 as well... arent the factory resets meant for BEFORE applying the 384?

or is a reset needed for pre and post?

I have router settings, anyone know if the router settings backup and restore can be relied on, or must I take pics of all my settings pages and manually type everything back in after the flash?

Don’t rely on the built in backup/restore for major upgrade like 380>384.
Not sure about how effective the backup/restore is for the site below as I never use it before. But I read forum that it should work. U can read the post there if you want to try.
https://www.snbforums.com/threads/user-nvram-save-restore-utility-r26-2.19521/

The factory reset (initialize) is needed for this major upgrade from 380 to 384 due to changes in coding and a browser cache clear is also recommended. The reset is to be done after upgrading to 384.

Feedback:
380.69_2 --> 384.4_2 --> 380.70_beta1

Despite several days of struggle, including multiple factory reset and hand reconfigurations, I was unable to get my router to work as well with version 384 as with version 380.
But I have a complicated configuration:
I use Dual Wan (load-balancing: 4G+DSL) + a permanent OpenVPN connection + Qos bandwith monitor/QoS/Web History) + AiProtection/Network Protection/Dnsfilter) + Entware + Dnscrypt.

This configuration is NOT possible with => 384 !
Back in version 380.70_beta1 (and everything works fine again)!

:(

Your router is what model? Ac68 or Ac86?
Please do not flash firmware when you are sleepy. It is bad for your router.

LOL, you right. I just consoled in to check, RT-AC68U. I did DL it late last night. Would have been bad for my router and WORSE for me! thankyou.

I cannot delete a rule in the Port Trigger List. I click the delete button (-) and a small blue outline appears and nothing executes. RT-AC87U

FWIW since I never got good feedback - the update from 384.3 to 384.4_2 did NOT screw up my OpenVPN server.

there has never been a 380 for AC86U, they started with 382 and as crypted all ending with .w.
You mix 86U vs. 68U!

Dual wan with USB does not work with 384-4 on AC87u. After updating I configured everything manually, so not restored from any backup.
First of all, after powering up, the network map shows the secondary WAN (USB) as 'Network cable is unplugged'. If I click on the globe, if I disable and enable again the Internet Connection for it, its status changes to Cold-Standby.
Either way, when I disconnect the wan cable, nothing happens, it never tries to connect with the backup USB.

I have attached screen-shots of what I have in GUI.

Just a wish update following my troubles with the ac3200 on this firmware....

Disabling spanning tree has resolved the issues. I do now remember making this change in another 384 build.

In unclear as to whether this is a firmware bug or issues with perhaps sonos or my virgin hub3...

I know that Sonos can be quite picky when it comes to the network.

Additionally to my previous message (this problem still exists), I got new errors... before that happened I configured Samba to use only SMBv1... Router worked 4 days and after that it automatically rebooted after this:

Could somebody give me any hints where to search solution? I am not advanced in Linux and will be very appreciated for any help!
p.s. sdb1 is new USB 3.0 SSD 1 Tb, checked and no any errors found.
