I also rejected the two agreements and one disabled DDNS, which had previously been enabled by the ASUS router app, and the other disabled all the Trend Micro protection features.

As soon as you enable them, the relevent agreement pops up again that you must agree to to use that feature. I've left DDNS off, as I'm not fussed about the app, but I re-enabled the malicious site blocking.

Is best practice for US users is to reject the 2 agreements? Why? Privacy concerns?

Or something technical?

If you need to use any of the features tied to these, you have to accept them. The agreement was added by Asus due to new European laws.

First time poster here. I read through this thread and didn't see this issue mentioned.

I think I downloaded the release RT-AC86U_384.6 zip file. Normally the zip file contains a .trx file that is about 37MB in size which gets uploaded to the router.
When I unpack the zip file I have a file named "RT-AC86U_384.6_0_cferom_ubi.w" that is about 79MB in size. I've never seen this before. Did something get corrupted somehow?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The RT-AC86U uses a more modern flash partitioning architecture (UBI), requiring the different file image format.

Are you sure you downloaded correct file?

Do you have an RT-AC68U or 86U?

Do you have a 86U? The size and trx extension match the 88U firmware.

I simply rejected it because I wasn't using any of the features. I seemed to have gained an extra 40 MB of free memory in the process, unless that's just something that changed in 384.6.

No, I need a low ping by using WTFast. I can't play games with a 300 ping! WTFast lowers it to 200 so I can play games.

THIS IS A TOTAL JOKE!!!! BRING BACK WTFAST!!!!! I might just throw my router in the bin now...

Stamping your feet like a spoilt child won’t help anything. No one forced you to update.

Roll back.

Hi,

unfortunately I do have issues since 384.6 Beta 1 to 384.6 Release with UDP streaming (SAT>IP) 384.5 Release is fine.

I did try many times with 384.6 but I have massive issues with UDP, only a downgrade to 384.5 helps, and there is no issue with my main router or switches.

I'm using DNSCrypt v2 on my router with v384.6 with Cloudflare without any problem.

I don't know if it helps; I selected 8.8.8.8 as default for initializing dnscrypt-proxy and I'm not sure if it is related I put IP address (not a domain name) as NTP server. I mean that;

In my opinion putting IP address as NTP server instead of domain name helps to fix lots of problem after router rebooted.

I also use IP

Your router is an RT-AC88U and DNSCrypt works without problems, since the beta does not work for me, now I think that a problem that the firmware v384.6 has for the Router RT-AC68U (My router is an RT-AC1900P)

When I was using beta, I've also faced "internet status: Disconnected" problem and I toggled off and on Internet connection a couple of times and it was fixed. Also I was connected even though it says "Disconnected". Force your router to re-connect. It worked for me earlier so it may work for you too :)

BTW, you are using dnscrypt-proxy 2.0.16 right? not 2.0.15?

2 days uptime with 384.6 and all was great.

Backed up settings. Decided to take plunge with 384.7 alpha 1. Updated right over 384.6 and running perfectly fine. :)

Runs fine on my RT-AC68U

Hi,

looks like the new RT-AC68U_384.7_alpha1-g192753589.trx is working fine again with UDP streaming.

Hi Grisu,

Didn’t see one, but Asus’s 21140 release was kind of vague anyway.

Here is the master commits at Github:

https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/commits/master
As you said: It WAS !
Now asus changed the text to be more informative.
