Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 is now available for Wifi 7 devices. This release adds support for the RT-BE86U and RT-BE88U, changes the behaviour of the VPN killswitch, and fixes a number of issues present in 3006.102.1.

Note that the RT-BE86U and RT-BE88U are based on separate GPL versions, and therefore may contain a number of new issues specific to their respective GPLs. I am still waiting for a global GPL update from Asus for 3006.102 (two previous provided ETAs were missed), so I decided to just go ahead and release firmwares for these two models by using temporary GPL releases. Treat these two models as being a bit more experimental than the other supported Wifi 7 models, especially the RT-BE86U as the 102_36xxx code contains a number of significant wifi-related changes. Expect various addons related to Wifi to not work properly at this time.

17-Nov-2024 3006.102.2_2 is now available. Changes since 3006.102.2:
Code:
3006.102.2_2 (17-Nov-2024)
  - FIXED: Security issues in AiCloud (backports from Asus)

Changes since 3006.102.1:
Code:
3006.102.2 (3-Nov-2024)
  - NEW: Added support for RT-BE88U (based on GPL 3.0.0.6.102_33921)
  - NEW: Added support for RT-BE86U (based on GPL 3.0.0.6.102_36216)
  - NEW: Added mDNS support to the router's local name resolution
         (nss).
  - UPDATED: OpenVPN to 2.6.12.
  - CHANGED: Support importing Wireguard config files that
contain multiple AllowedIPs, Address or DNS
             declarations.
  - CHANGED: Re-added firmware version display on Sysinfo page
(as you can't copy the version string from the
header banner, this one can be).
  - CHANGED: VPN killswitch will now only be active if the
VPN client itself is enabled. If you stop/start
the client yourself over SSH, you need to also
             update the enabled/disabled nvram setting.
  - CHANGED: Display public IP address for Wireguard clients.
  - FIXED: Generated web certificate wasn't using the FQDN
           for Namecheap DDNS users.
  - FIXED: DNSDirector and Tor pages would fail to properly load
           in some environment.
  - FIXED: CVE-2024-2511, CVE-2024-4741, CVE-2024-5535 &
Implicit rejection for RSA PKCS#1 in openssl
           (backport from Ubuntu by RSDNTWK)
  - FIXED: UPnP options were missing on WAN page for models
           with multiservice WAN support.
  - FIXED: Guest Network table would still be shown on the
DNSDIrector page if DNSDirector isn't enabled.
  - FIXED: VPN Fusion-related popup showing when editing
an existing DHCP reservation - removed.
  - FIXED: 320 MHz chanspec would show as 160 on the Wifi
           icon status.
  - FIXED: Wifi icon status not properly shown on quad-band
           Wifi 7 models.
  - FIXED: DNS over TLS broken if IoT Guest Network (or other
Guest Network sharing existing VLAN) is disabled.
           (patch from Asus)

Does this include the changes from the new stock RT-BE96U firmware that finally dropped on 10/24 @RMerlin ?

There was no change in GPL for the RT-BE96U.

Thanks Merlin, I saw commit 6fe22fe. Thank you!

Updated successfully from 3006.102.2 beta1 using MerlinAU.

So when would those changes in the new RT-BE96U be part of merlin firmware? i'd like to stay on merlin, but it seems once you flash the stock fw, you can't revert back to previous firmware versions due to "architecture changes".

Darn.
I already updated my new BE86U to stock 3.0.0.6.102_37022.
It won't let me install your build. It just reboots without installing, as it won't allow downgrade.

I'll have to wait a while for your next one.
Keep up the good work, and thanks

Must be one of your setting as I had no issue going from 3.0.0.6.102_37022 to 3.0.0.6.102.2
I have both of these turned off on the firmware upgrade page so perhaps that is your issue.

RT-BE86U is already based on the 102_36xxxx codebase, where the low-level wireless changes occurred.

Same problem I had in the beta where the wireless log has the same hostname for different devices but all other pages have them named correctly.
Have rebooted but not corrected.
May try reset if I get time but football on today so may have to wait until tomorrow.
Ending in CD is AppleTV and 9C is my Tivo.

Edit: Full reset did not resolve the issue.

Mine rebooted after doing the update timed bar, but hadn't updated and was still on stock, so assumed it wouldn't allow downgrade.
I tried again from hardwired PC (previously tried from Android phone on WiFi), and now installed fine 👍

That's quite common with Asus routers. Hapens every now and then. Especially if you have some USB devices connected to the router. Usually removing the USB devices first and just trying the update again should resolve the issue.
I've seen it many times with AC66U, AC87U, AC88U, AX86U routers over the years.

Thank you! I installed the beta about two hours after I unpacked the thing. I really appreciate your work on this over the years.

All good here so far; got notified just last night of the release by MerlinAU; still have some testing to do.
Flashed without waiting for the delay; and at least so far no issues and stable for me.

Will keep an eye and report anything if identified.
