I can't turn on NFSD on my GT-BE98 Pro. Everytime I enable it, it attempts to apply the change, but then turns back off. User error or bug?
NFS is not supported in 3006. Compatibility issue with the newer kernel and glibc. That page shouldn't be there.

Just wondering will merlin support any mesh router such as the ASUS Zenwifi BQ16 Pro?
Q: Will you add support for model XYZ?
A: The decision whether or not to support a new model depend on a long list of factors, which may evolve over time. Right now:

- It needs to be Broadcom-based
- It needs to be widely available (not just in two or three countries)
- It needs to have high-end hardware so I don't have to fight with lack of flash or RAM
- It needs to receive frequent enough GPLs so I won't have to regularly skip it due to the GPL being outdated
- I need to have one
- I need to have the time to try supporting it
- I need to have the motivation to try supporting it

Each new model requires its own dedicated support. That means every time I work on a new firmware release, I have to work on each separate model, and I need GPL releases from Asus for each individual model, and I need to merge each of them separately. So that means if I support 10 different routers, then I need to merge in the content of 10 different GPL releases, and these need to be close enough to one another to still be compatible. The more models I support, the harder this is to accomplish, therefore I am VERY conservative regarding adding any new model.

So don't ask if/when a new model will be supported. I cannot speculate about future model support, and until I have working support for a model, I cannot answer that question.
RMerlin has explained, both in this discussion and elsewhere, that he has only received 3006.x GPL's for the few currently supported 3006.102.x Asus-Merlin firmware routers. Its up to Asus to provide more 3006.x GPL's for other models. He has indicated there is no ETA at this time on when he might receive other 3006.x GPL's from Asus.
PS: See RMerlin's post #69:
New ETA received for updated GPLs. We'll see if this time (the third one so far) it will stick...

I really hope that the non-pro be98 will soon be supported by merlin, which I prefer to the gnuton version which I believe is currently available in beta.

Just got my new RT-BE88u, and offcourse installed Merlin.
I need for 1 device to use WPS, but it seems not to work:

I knew that AsusWRT Merlin for WiFi 6 models have low priority for development but at the moment Asus released 306.102 firmware for many Wifi 6 devices as: AX86U Pro, AX88U Pro, GT-AX6000, GT-AX11000 Pro…. and they removed 304 firmware for these devices on their website. That means they will support only new 306.102 firmware offically for these devices.

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about upgrading my trusty old RT-AC68U to the newer RT-BE58U. While the 68U has served me well, I'm keen on the performance boost and advanced wi-fi features that the BE58U offers.

However, one thing that's got me curious is the potential for custom firmware support, specifically Merlin WRT. So, what do you think? Is there a chance that Merlin WRT will be available for the RT-BE58U in the future?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and any insights from the community. Thanks!

This is unrelated to me however, they directly provide me source code, I am not bound to whichever release they issue. Just like I support the RT-AX56U with a 388.x release, while Asus only offer 386.x firmwares for that model.

Hi RMerlin!!
I got the RT-BE7200 from Best Buy but it didn't accept your BE88U firmware, do you have plans to support the BE2700?
I really appreciate your work on this over the years!
Thanks!!

I got the RT-BE2700

If you mean RT-BE7200 - it's the same router as RT-BE88U indeed, but stock Asuswrt may prevent you to install currently available Asuswrt-Merlin version. Asus removed previously available stock Asuswrt versions leaving just the last two and they prevent downgrading to any firmware with older base. You have to use Firmware Restoration tool, but very careful with it and double check what firmware you are uploading. If not comfortable with this method - just wait for the next Asuswrt-Merlin release. Use the time to explore the new 3006 features.

Thanks for your response, so, in order to run Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 I should downgrade my BE7200 firmware that currently is running 3.0.0.6.102_37094-g9192b87_980-gbd310_BB0B to an older base?
