No idea, they don't seem to post the DNS IPs on that registration page. I'm using 208.67.222.222 as the nameserver, no idea if you are supposed to use a different IPs when signing up to that service.

Looks like there are still some kinks to work out in the Asus USB Hub implementation. I was copying a 10GB file to my USB drive on the AC68R to test it out and the router dismounted the USB drive about a quarter of the way into the copy. This never happened before with numerous large file copies while running 374.38_x.

I found the OpenDNS Family Shield IPs (you can skip signing up, and then access the config FAQs). That service uses different nameservers.

I'll add them as a second level of filtering, just like I did with Norton and Yandex.

Sorry if already asked, too many posts to look through. So if on the wan page I set manually the dns, but then on the new parental control page set a different dns as default for all users, who wins? Thanks!

Whatever is configured on DNSFilter will always override anything else.

In order of priority:

1) Client filter entry
2) Global filter entry
3) ISP/manual WAN DNS

If a client is set to "None", then it will bypass DNSFilter and use the ISP/manual WAN DNS.

Recommended use is to keep Global to "None", but only add specific clients to filter out.

I would expect parents to take the time to actually test the filter rather than blindly rely on it. I have a feeling that it might be region-specific (seeing that you are in NL for instance), so I have no plan to remove Norton ConnectSafe.

Regular OpenDNS was renamed OpenDNS Home (to match with how they call it on their website), and OpenDNS Family added as the Family Shield (pre-configured) method.

You could take a look at OpenDNS too if you want a better alternative that won't scare your kids with Russian error pages, or having Youtube streams being sent from an European server.

well, being located in Europe, I wouldn't mind, would I ?

But I'll definitely give a look to the OpenDNS FamilyShield when its available through your next FW.

hmm found somthing strange

I was starting to forward ports as a service needed it and i usually use underscore in my servicenames. For some reason in the portforwarding tool i can't use "_", regular "-" works just fine. Why is it like this? Is there a reason why you shouldn't use "_" in servicenames?
I have old servicenames that containes "_" in there names. are unerscores not allowed in servicenames anymore?

ok so, nortons filters pants, utter pants. 1 of 3 porn sites were blocked so it has a 33% chance of your kids not watching some girl getting shafted with a fist.

anyway.

nortons filters set in the wan dns work.

nortons filters set in parental dns control do not work, i have rebooted everything and cleared every cache possible.

If it then set yandex it works as expected.

n66u using the em 39 build.

otoh opendns had a better hit rate, 66% so better than nortons and worst than yandex.

I just picked up an AC68R from best buy (Replacing my AC66U) and had a quick question.

If I want to flash this, do I want to be on 3.0.0.4.374_583 for the AC68R from Asus' website then flash to this or do I want to be on 3.0.0.4.374_583 for the AC68U from Asus' website then flash to this? Maybe it doesn't matter? I only ask because all the awesome Merlin stuff is "AC68U". Thanks in advance

Norton is working perfectly for me so please do not consider removing it. If it doesn't work for you then test one of the other options and move on to that one. Sorry if I sound aggressive, it is certainly not meant that way. It does work for some of us.

Is it worth make overclock at the 68U mine is working as default, 800/666 (used the Asus tool to get 666) if yes what value for a hot country like mine, Brazil, would you recommend? I read that modt people try 1000/800 or 1200/800.... Should i let stock or try something?
