It was working in my ac66u 38.1

Think you will add the feature back in the future build?

It won't be coming back poses security issues. I use putty I'm a noob and haven't totality tosted my 68r yet

Someone new version soon of merlin?

RT-N66U FW: Merlin 374.40
Yes, it's always soon - compared to somebody like Micro$oft!

But why not installing the current .42 version in the meantime?
Many good things in there: See first posting for the change log!

With kind regards
Joe

Perhaps because of broken 3G/4G modem support for example? :(

Ciao
Gerald

But I think firstly Asus has to fix this issue as RMerlin doesn't have even a 3G Dongle, so its difficult to get his fixed. Asus screwed this and they need to fix this first. Also can not wait anymore but the told next release it will be fixed :)

Wifi mac allow list is useless as wifi mac spoofing is easy and anyone can do it.

Wpa2 and turn off wps is enough.

it is anything but useless. If i want my just anyone to connect to my wifi would left it unencrpted and allowed all mac addressed accesss. Doing allow list for mac addressed on wifi does exactly what i want to do.

That is totally your choice but I would not recommend it there are many security issues that have been addressed since the version you are using. If your comfortable with that then enjoy. ;)

One day i will right now i have no issues. dont fix what anit broke or causing issues comes to mind

Take screenshots of the router pages. It makes a pain in the arse an easy task.

if would but 50+ settings QOS, Fix IP for pc bandwidth settings wifi settings mac addresse , etc still takes alot time.

Only issue have that even remotedly bothers me if the fact if QOS on= ps3 says router dont support fragmented ips

Attn: RMerlin,

Bug report for RT-AC68U with 374.42_2 firmware:

In USB Applications, Network Place Tab the Work Group is unable to accept a single character. I have been using single character Work Group names for the last year previously with your firmware.

The error that comes up is: 'Invalid character!' when Apply is clicked.

Hope you're able to fix this before 374.43 is finalized. Thank you.

My one annoyance/bug with this firmware is that I cannot use wps button, everytime I set the toggle to use wps button, it reverts back to using wps pin
(rt-ac66u)

The JFFS2 content will be intact after the factory default reset. Just make sure JFFS is enabled (it should be by default now).

Asus applied stricter validation when they revamped the SMB Sharing page. The regexp they use for validation expects the name to contain at least two characters (since the first and subsequent characters have different restrictions), hence a single-character workgroup name will fail that validation.

I modified the regexp to validate either against one single character, or 2+ characters.

ok so basicly from 374 to 375 builds a factory reset is require but from say 374.42 to 374.43 its is not required?

Cause i vaguely remember having to update to 372.32 from previous 372.xx to fix the fact content from be deleted every time router reboots which was bug at some point and i didnt do factory reset then

BTW if i have feature request/sugesstion where would i go about asking it? is there topic for such things?

I hope .43 is out sooon :D

Since you're still on 374.40, if what you are after is new goodies you can get that by upgrading to 374.42.

I currently don't have any timetable for the next release. I expect a lot of change in Asus's code in the coming months, so these days I'm just in maintenance mode, taking care of various minor issues as they come up. Not enough changes so far to warrant a new release.

It's a case-by-case scenario. I know that nothing has changed to require a factory default reset between 374.42 and the current 374.43 development code. However RT-N66U users coming from 374.38 or older will require one, due to the switch in wireless driver starting with 374.39-em.

Most of the time I will post in the new release thread whether a factory default reset is mandatory or not. I can't post for every single possible scenario however, I will only cover people upgrading from the previous release.

Might be best to start a separate thread. Be warned that I am very strict when it comes to adding any new feature, as this isn't the main focus of this FW project. I see no reason in developing a Tomato/DD-WRT clone by including tons of features that are used by a very small subset of users and are already available in those other projects, or which would make it more difficult to keep in-sync with Asus's own changes.

Hello Merlin,
Until now I am very satisfied with the current release. Uptime 16 days without any issues. (had to reboot router to test some startup-scripts, otherwise uptime was much longer).

I was wondering if there's any change a fix will be available in a future release for the bug in the time management rules? (Any rule will be overruled for app. 30 seconds by reconnect to the AP, http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=17337).
