Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

Port scanners typically only test TCP, they don't test UDP. You can see here that your two UDP forwards are working, there's been one packet logged on each of them.

The port scanner i used specifically tested UDP.. so I'm pretty sure it's correct that the ports are not open.

The fact that iptables tells you there's been one packet on each of these two UDP forwards says otherwise. I would check for an issue on those two machines to which the packets are getting forwarded.

That would be because you downloaded 380.58 beta 1 rather than 380.58, which is what is listed on the website.

I did follow the download link posted. when I click on the AC66U folder at that link, what opens is shown below. All that is available is a Beta folder and files for v374 and v376...nothing later is shown.

I am very puzzled because I am following the posted links!

OK, sorry for the confusion. For some reason, my page was not fully populating before...now the v380 files are at the bottom of the list.

Sometimes, Mediafire has... "issues"... That's why I also mirror the downloads on Sourceforge now.

Today, I had to revert to ASUS firmware (I used beta RT-AC3200_9.0.0.4_380_2695-g1b222cd) after my 2.5 GH transmitter started cycling on/off. Haven't had a problem since changing over, but I surely miss the Merlin extras.
I tried multiple soft and hard reboots, rebooted the cable modem (just in case), and tried turning the wifi transmitters on/off using the switch on the router. I have downloaded the new beta on mediafire, but wonder if I should wait for a solid update. Any ideas what is going on?

Try acces him by is domain name http://router.asus.com

If its not working ...... Hold good old "Reset button" behind 10 sec and reconfig

Interestingly enough, I switched to Merlin from the stock ASUS firmware when my 2.4 Ghz radio started dropping clients intermittently. Merlin seemed to sort things out (3 stable weeks), but just had it happen again yesterday.

Now I'm wondering if it's an overheating issue. For a while I was definitely stressing the router -- mounted horizontally, with a USB HD attached, a SIP phone, OpenVPN, etc. House temp is usually around 70 F. I have now mounted it vertically (and no more USB HD), but it's near the ceiling so I don't know that it's much cooler than before. Merlin reports radio temps in the 55 - 57 C range.

I am considering opening up my router, checking and reapplying thermal paste where necessary, and then drilling some vent holes in the top of the case and mounting a 5V fan for some active cooling, and seeing what that does for my stability.

You could try first just using a laptop cooling pad to see if it does make any difference in stability.

Think i finally fiqure out my issue with some sites not wanting to load or taking way to long, Seeing As I use OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and it was happen with those as opposed to the ISP DNS servers, I swap out 208.67. 220.220 with 208.67. 222.220 and now those sites I was having issue with actual work correctly. apparently 208.67. 220.220 was have reliability issue well according to DNS bench it was., gona switch back to 380.58 soon as i not feeling lazy cause I saw now issue with other wise.

2.4Ghz and 5Ghz regular web browsing etc. works fine.

Is this expected behavior/do I need to change settings somewhere to allow 5Ghz SSH connection?

No reason to, unless you have a special configuration on that band (such as using a Guest network).

You should be able. That's why I'm saying you must have some special configuration done that prevents it, there's no such limitation in the firmware.

Sorry, I misunderstood.
No, I rebuilt my router from scratch last night and all I did was install Entware and Transmission.
Cannot get it to SSH at all under 5Ghz.

Not the biggest deal in the world...was hoping there was a simple fix.

Anyone noticing downshifting of the LAN ports on the RT-AC88U? every few days mine down shifts to 100 Full Duplex from 1000 Full Duplex and I have to reset it
