@aex.perez Interesting observation (I'm just going from my memory) but didn't the older AiMesh firmware(s) use to allow us to actually set the Wired Ethernet backhaul?
The newer firware allows: Auto & 5G
My Point is...
Auto would still be inclusive of radio AKA WiFi-Mesh (Good intent would be Self Healing Wifi Mesh from a broken or bad ethernet cable).
Reality Check, A hardwired Ethernet cable is always faster & not very likely to go bad.
Hence setting: ONLY wired Ethernet backhaul should free up some bandwidth

Super nice to get this update and wireguard specifically, though I noticed tonight that my overall bandwidth seems reduced when any WG VPN is connected, even to devices not on the VPN. Seems to be right around 330mbps. On my wired PC when I disconnected the VPN bandwidth shot back up to 1gbps on the steam download I was doing. I didnt have this with OpenVPN connections. Early days I suppose.

RT-AX68U. After the update, the transmission began to fall. I tried to reset the settings without restoring the previously saved settings. But the app still crashes. What can be done?

Hi, dirty upgrade from stock factory firmware to RMerlin 388.1 (switching from AC86U/386.7_2 to AX6000/388.1) without my USB drive connected (still on my AC86U and will be reformat before plugging in my AX6000 when my validation completed).

So far so good:

Love my new router, dumped the ROG UI for the RMerlin one (not a gamer) and will eventually use my retired AC86U as a Node.

Very sorry, I did read the changelog, but didn't Clock the significance of the nat acceleration until I read your full description at the top of this post, so your comment is well founded.

I am continually amazed at how much c--p you put up with, yet you (Thank God!) continue to do an unbelievable amount of work in support of these ASUS modems. As a retired IT Developer I know how frustrating development and support can get at times. Please know that your efforts are not in vain and that most/all of us really appreciate it.

What model do you have? What model page were you redirected to?

Have updated my 2 RT-AX88U to 388.1, I also have a RT-AC66U B1 as a node. One of the RT-AX88U is also a node.
A lot of problems, but after reset every router to Factory Default, and set them up again, it runs very stable so far.
There is some small problems:
- When I turn of the LED's the turn on again after some hours, the I can turn them of again ...
- In System Log - Wireless Log only devices from the main router is shown, not any devices from the nodes.

One small thing more: There is no port status on my RT-AX88U as a node, it works if I use the firmware from ASUS

Long term user and fan btw of Merlin, keep up the good work!

Updated to this release (388.1) on my 88u a few days ago. Started noticing strange NTP behavior on Linux based clients. Seems somehow (took me a day to notice and several hours to figure out) that the NTP port is blocked for clients. First thought maybe it is my ISP. But when i switch off the option "Incept NTPclient requests" in 'Administration', it seems to work again. Did something change regarding NTP in the update?

Make sure clients aren't connected to Guest Network 1, and that Intranet access isn't disabled if using a Guest Network.

Under Administration/System/Persistent JFFS2 partition, I have noticed that the "Format JFFS partition at next boot" option displayed for my old AC86U is not present for my new AX6000. Is this normal (could not find anything directly related to this in the Changelog)?

Perfectly normal for GT-AX6000. It was covered when @RMerlin first added support for the device.

I looked back at the Changelog and only found "JFFS backup/restore functions not working on XT12 and GT-AX6000" but nothing about reformatting JFFS for the AX6000. Going back to my review/evaluation...

These newer routers use UBIFS rather than JFFS2. Rather than trying to figure out if there is a safe way to reformat an ubifs partition I simply chose to remove the option for models that use UBIFS.

Therefore, as a suggestion (not a request), would it be logical then to change all the referenced JFFS to UBIFS like "Enable UBIFS custom scripts and configs" and "Backup UBIFS partition" in these examples for the subject models in a future release?
