Just "wetransferred" the 59_final to someone here in The Netherlands. From a very disappointed user he became extremely happy with the coverage of his brand new AC87U.

:)
Hello there!
I am also from the netherlands en just bought a AC87U. The coverage is not what i expected and after a day of searching the Inet, I ended up here, so I subscribed directly!
This final seems to be the solution to the problem, but I don't know where to find it.
Is there a possibility you 'wetransferring" the 59_final build to me?
If so, that would really be great!

Kind regards
Tamaar

Hi Tamaar, just got mine as well and had the same question.
I sent a PM to hggomes and hope he will share the link with me.

Is yours also a red AC87U? :)

Still searching how to install this firmware as the next step ;)

Still searching how to install this firmware as the next step ;)
Nothing different as installation.
- Upload it on router
- Restore factory default
- Do the setting manually
PS: if you have newest firmware from ASUS then probably you have to use first of all the recovery procedure in order to downgrade the FW

Install is the same as Asus or any RMerlin based fork.

Download and extract .trx file. Verify SHA-256 file hash.

Unplug all USB devices from your router. Reboot and wait 5 minutes for it to settle before following the remaining steps below.

You may want to use john9527's excellent NVRAM Save/Restore utility too.

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/user-nvram-save-restore-utility-r24.19521/

Best part of the utility above? All your settings are saved in text (human readable) format. :)

And don't forget the most important points on the changelog.txt file;

********************************************************************************************************************************************
* MANDATORY: FACTORY DEFAULT RESTORE (http://ROUTERIP/Advanced_SettingBackup_Content.asp) AND/OR HW RESET IS REQUIRED AFTER FW UPGRADE. *
* ********* DO NOT USE/IMPORT OLD CONFIGURATION FILE FROM A DIFFERENT FW AFTER FLASHING, JUST CONFIGURE IT MANUALLY FROM SCRATCH. *
* *
* ALL WIRELESS CHANNELS ARE UNLOCKED AND AVAILABLE ON THIS FW, SO YOUR CLIENTS COULD NOT USE SOME OF THEM BECAUSE OF REGION LOCK ON THE *
* CLIENT SIDE. DO NOT USE AUTO CONTROL CHANNEL OPTION OR THE ROUTER CAN ACT LIKE IT'S NOT BROADCASTING TO THOSE CLIENTS. *
* *
* ALWAYS CHOOSE A MANUAL CONTROL CHANNEL ON BOTH 2.4 AND 5GHZ BANDS (http://ROUTERIP/Advanced_Wireless_Content.asp) *
* *

Thx for all the help! I will look into it tomorrow when I have more time.

Have a nice evening everyone!
Best regards
Tamaar

I got the 59-final, followed the steps L&LD posted but it does not work... I can't downgrade de new FW and when I try to upload the 59-final, there's a pop-up that tells me this is not the official FW and it does nothing.
Am i doing something completely wrong or is it bad luck and can't I get it to work?

Which router do you have?
What was the firmware version before you did the upgrade with HGG firmware?

I had this on my 68u, thought it was buggered, I had to restore using recovery interface with an older firmware, then incrementally upgrade to that version.

Did you done the recovery/rescue procedure in order to downgrade the FW?

I tried to set it back to factory settings, but that is not the same, i guess?
Don't want to look stupid, but how do I do the recovery procedure?
(Probably has to wait till monday... A lot of Inet-addicts in the house right now ;))

It is a totally different thing. It is a procedure documented and with a tool from ASUS and has to be done with some higher attention.
I think that you have the procedure in user manual.
Resetting the settings will not replace the FW version.
You need an older FW pushed in your router in order to allow you any FW. The new FW from ASUS doesn't allow you to use older FW or 3rd party FW.

You are probably on a FW version 380.3xxx and you cant downgrade if your not doing this, you need to enter in RESCUE MODE

Follow these steps its for Ac66, but work for all models, you need to do all the steps from the link

Power off the router: Hold RESET button and power on router,keep holding reset til led begin flashing slowy, release RESET button and you are now in rescue mode

Thank you all for the help!
I am going to try this as soon as possible.
I really appreciate what you are all doing.

Thanks again!
