That drive is a USB drive enabled to save traffic history.

Ok and I see now the router was having an issue finding the drive...

Reformatted the drive, now all is well.

I see similar messages to this to, I wonder if that is why my traffic history is incomplete.

I might have something relevant to add to the empty client list issue. I set my friend up recently with a similar merlin config to my own (.59 on a 68P).. I use a /22 subnet for my LAN and set my friend's router up the same way. He tried changing to a /24 subnet and his client list started working. Are the people with empty client lists using something besides a /24?

Just an FYI. Since Aug 5th, no issues with 380.61 on my RT-AC68U. Internet has been stable and nothing funky in the logs.

But one thing I noticed on this and previous fw is when using the Asus Router app (iOS) it displays devices that I´m 100% sure is turned off.
Is it DHCP leases that don´t cleares?

hello all! i have asking this for many times but couldnt find the solution for this specific problem about the 5g band! i have tried all the firmwares that came out and nothing works. The 5g band will work normal after i freshly upgrade to new firmware or reboot but only one day for upgrade and couple hours for reboot and then it will slow down or very unstable! i have played around with all the channels, disable beamforming, change the interval... v..v but nothing works. thanks!

PS: i have ac87u and i factory reset every time i upgrade. and this is my second one after returned the first one!

It is the router at fault, not the firmware .

I had 4 x Ac87U's , every one of them was faulty , the seller took them back each time and after no#4 they returned their stock to ASUS and refused to stock them. I changed model and haven't seen any problem since.

The AC87U is well known for these problems , it has been discussed here and at the ASUS customer forum.

Reading these threads, it seems I'm one of very few who are satisfied with this model?

AC87U is working very good.
Only the connection with ac68 repeater mode is not working with latest AC87 Firmware.

I have the same behaviour on my AC66U running 380.58 and the iOS App, so whatever the problem, it is not related to the recent network map changes or to 380.61

The 87U is great if it works . Many seem to have had hardware faults, changing firmware certainly didn't do anything to help. Hope it keeps working for you.

Hello there.

I upgraded my 2 x RT-AC87Us last night from 378-9460 and so far everything is fine. It's only been 14 hours so far so I suppose it's a little early to tell.

One Router running in Wireless Router Mode and the second is running in Access Point Mode.

Just so you know, these are the steps I followed for the upgrade:

1. Reboot Router through GUI
2. Upgraded firmware
3. Reset to factory defaults
4. Set everything up manually.
5. Rebooted just for kicks

As I said, everything seems OK but I do have a question about my logs. It seems a lot of my devices are causing a lot of DHCP entries in my logs and the log is flooded with them. I'm not sure why this is happening as it never happened on 378-9460. Here is a snip from my log:

The logs go on and on with this stuff. Any ideas why the logs are so full of this stuff? Does the router ever purge the logs when they get too full? Can full logs cause performance issues on my routers?

DHCP request logging can be disabled on the DHCP configuration page.

Networkmap keeps track of offline clients (so if you had renamed them, they won't lose their names). It's possible that the application shows them mixed up with online clients.

On my own AC66U I performed this procedure to silence the SSL warnings in Firefox (with an earlier build):

Today I tried this on a family member's AC68U as well. Firefox does not import that certificate. It fails silently. When I generate the certificate on my own router instead (via ssh) it is not accepted as well. The certificate I use at home for some time now (and created with an earlier build) is accepted by Firefox.

How can I debug this?

I'm with you, my AC87U running as the router and a AC66R as an access point have been rock sold. Also running the latest firmware going on 2 days without issue.

I have an RT-AC68R running Merlin 378.56_2. I'm trying to upgrade to 380.61, but running into an error mentioned below. The file I'm attempting to upload is RT-AC68U_380.61_0.trx. I'm on Windows 10, and I've tried in both IE and Firefox, both give the same error. I didn't have this issue when flashing to Merlin previously:

Firmware upgrade unsuccessful. This may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try again.

I also tried re-downloading the 380.61 from a different source, and still the same thing. Normally this is a simple process. I've seen a few people with this same error, but not doing the same version or in the same circumstance. Does anyone have an idea on why it's not working?
