Danger! FTP Share server leaves port 21 open to internet even though 'WAN access' is disabled.

Tested on Asus RT-AC87U (Asuswrt-Merlin 384.12) with https://anti-hacker-alliance.com/index.php?ip=

How did you test? Was this a dirty upgrade to 384.12? What steps did you take to make sure that the 384.12 firmware was properly loaded and defaulted along with a minimal and manual install (except for the testing you did)?

I had to downgrade to 384.9 on my AC88U, in order to get a stable version of asuswrt-merlin.
Or else my whole internet would just keep falling out.
And i have a stable 500 v 500 fiber internet connection.
So it's not the internet.
And it is working as it should now on 384.9.

It's a bug when either in Load Balancing mode, or when using IPTV. I already fixed it a few weeks ago, it will be part of 384.13.

I have been having an Issue with Dual wan Failover these are my settings

https://imgur.com/a/m7qSKXU

but whenever I lose P WAN it shows as disconnected and doesn't switch to Secondary Wan instead secondary just shows Hot Standby even though the secondary WAN is working fine

it stays like that for almost 30 mins and may or may not switch

How ever if I reboot the router after Primary has failed it switches promptly to secondary without fail

Ps: By primary fail, I don't mean cable unplug if I unplug the cable everything works

Red light of death again this AM on the 86u.
Unplugged router and pressed power to drain residual.
Booted and the light was pink.
Then I rebooted modem with router on. White again and works.
Make my router LED white again :p

Did you test a factory reset?

Did you Mac clone the ISP unit?

Hi I am looking for some help loading Merlin on my RT 86u router
I was running 384.12 but had some network issues and I thought it was the router and was going to RMA it and reloaded stock firmware back on it... I think my problem was an isp issue and I want to load Merlin back on it but for the likes of me it will not even move from my PC to the upgrade firmware page.

This is what i see once I hit manual upload and hit open on my pc the file does not get there.
I would appreciate any help
Thanks

Edit: it seems like no setting will change on the router I tried lan address changes and nothing changes

None of my AC86U reboots seem clean...

Example:
Code:
NTP timeout (30s) reached, date is router default
 Sat May 5 07:06:09 CEST 2018 Probing 'ext2' on device /dev/sda1
Running disk check v2.4, with command 'e2fsck -p' on /dev/sda1
usb was not cleanly unmounted, check forced.
 usb: 1251/1880480 files (0.9% non-contiguous), 694925/7507959 blocks
Sat May 5 07:06:09 CEST 2018 Disk check done on /dev/sda1

Fri Jul 19 06:53:04 CEST 2019 Waited 1s for NTP to sync date
 Fri Jul 19 06:53:04 CEST 2019 Probing 'ext2' on device /dev/sda1
Running disk check v2.4, with command 'e2fsck -p' on /dev/sda1

 usb: 1252/1880480 files (0.8% non-contiguous), 674083/7507959 blocks

Do a soft reboot via web UI, when you do a power cycle USB don't get unmounted properly.

I flashed the new 384.12 but now Network Map says I have "Clients: 0". When I click on "View List," it says "No data in table." I attempted a Reboot through the UI and that didn't seem to solve an issue. How would I go on about fixing this problem? Thank you!
