Updated to 384.18 and now system log is flooded by these.......

I know this has cropped up previously but I cant find an answer

I had to revert to 384.17 from 384.18 after a dirty upgrade. I've kept up with all releases via dirty upgrades, which has been fine thus far. All my VPN servers (OpenVPN, IPSec & PPTP) stopped working and even the port forwarding from my internet-facing main Fios router to the AC86u for the https router web page (I have it at port 9443) stopped working. Please ensure you have config backup before performing this upgrade. I have not done any troubleshooting for lack of time. Just rolling back.

Edit: after rolling back to 384.17, everything is working fine again.

Updated from .17 without any issues. Even 2 new menu items appeared - Game and OpenNAT

Anyone else with an AC88U losing channels 36, 40, 44 or 48 in 5G wifi settings? All I have available is 149, 153, 157, 161 and 165.

Where are these new menu items in the GUI?

Thanks in advance.

They’re still there for me. I have a US model.

+1 on this. Also on an RT-AC5300

Is Trend Micro updating? Or is this not a firmware issue? Friend's 86u hasn't updated since last year as mentioned somewhere here, and she is wondering whether to do this update since otherwise everything works well for her on .17.

One other case recently reported was due to router malware breaking the wget used by the Trend Micro update process. She may want to factory reset and start fresh on 384.18.

You may want to consider doing a factory reset and manual configure. For the RT-AC86U it is worth doing. The SmartConnect in the newer, Merlin and Asus, firmware works very well!

SAMPLE:
Im getting all these, very strange i might have to revert. to a previous build.

AX88U from Beta1 to 384.18. when I enable VPNC1 it kills my internet connection. if I enable VPNC2 it is fine. Not sure why that is.

Check your configuration. If you have it redirect traffic but don't configure it properly, then you will lose Internet access.

@RMerlin Is the listed GPL version for the AC88U correct?

Yes, what I wrote is correct. Note that I wrote "binary blobs", not "GPL". I only merged binary blobs that Asus specially compiled for me, as they didn't have any up to date GPL available for the RT-AC88U.

I know this has cropped up previously but I cant find an answer

Bug in AiMesh code. Ignore it, it's in Asus's hands.

Anyone else with an AC88U losing channels 36, 40, 44 or 48 in 5G wifi settings? All I have available is 149, 153, 157, 161 and 165.

Channels are region-specific.

Will this update fix the 2.4ghz band on ax88u Or should I stick with .14?

I have zero problem with 2.4 GHz here. Check your configuration.

Should I upload some settings so u can help me
Out on this ? Or do u have some recommend settings for me ?
