Probably beyond @RMerlin's control but with 386.4_alpha2-g23082e2452 on all 3 nodes I turned off Parental controls Web and Apps Filter, Clicked the Apply. waited for the applying setting gui to complete, navigated away to another page, came back to the Parental controls, turned on the Web & apps filters , but no apply button. Logged out, changed browsers retried , rebooted main router. Still the same.. Cant turn it back on .. Does it have to populate before you can turn on and apply? RT-AX58U x3
Edit: Wierd, set the Web filters in the Asus App on my phone and it all came back when viewed on the PC.

Update to Alpha2 went, and continues to perform swimmingly. Thanks RMerlin!

AX-RT88U with 3 older routers (using Asus firmware) in AImesh. Dirty upgrade. Alpha2v2 removed my dhcp assignment list, and did a reformat (apparently) of jffs. No big deal. Reinstalled/reformatted USB, reinstalled amtm apps (only use scribe/ui, disk check, reboot scheduler, and swap). Native IPv6, DNS 0ver TLS, and wireless setting (don't use guest), were all fine. Don't use QOS or AIProtection and they remained off. Had to reboot once after installing amtm apps (high memory usage). Now everything looks great. Thanks Merlin.

“Dcd tainted” message hitting the log every 5 minutes or so.
Router seems to be working ok though.

Not previously seen here…….

You're not the only one. 15 minutes interval in both A2 versions. Flashed back to version A1.

Ax88 and not getting dcd tainted but, what's this:
kernel: CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_change_station : WLC_SCB_AUTHORIZE sta_flags_mask not set

Hi,

I've an Ax88u router in static mode to my modem and 2 ac88u and ac68u AiMesh nodes.

Atbforst everything worked.. and after a view minutes the gui didnt work anymore.
Tried clean install but connecting AiMesh modes again didnt work.

Only option i got working was goiing back to Asus firmware connect AiMesh nodes and go back to Alpha 1. On all othe clean options the nodes wont connect and the router got a red internet connection Led without.

Does anyone know what went wrong? No internet and no gui (ssh wasnt enabled) is not the most ideal wat to troubleshoot sadly.

All working fine on my AX88U with Alpha2 other than the same issue others have mentioned. I'm unable to select any VPN client instance apart from the first as the drop down list is empty. I installed over Apha1 (i.e. a dirty install) and reverting back to Alpha1 restores the list. I can try a clean install over the weekend when I'm not working!

I don't see those messages. Do you have trendmicro/QOS enabled? Both is off on mine.

Does anyone know what "DCD Tainted" is? Any effect on router performance? Network performance?

TrendMicro's Data Collection Daemon, but I don't know what its problem is. :)

I ended up rolling back my APs to the last release version. My Nest cameras (2.4GHz) would not stay connected at all, constantly disconnecting. Tried to muck with a few settings but no luck getting any stability. Didn't see this in the Alpha 1. Went all the way back to release for now.

Alpha 1 has been so good for me over the last months I'm hesitant to try newer Alphas, even though I usually do. Not to mention the issues being reported with Alphas 2.

Alpha 2 brought a new GPL so a fair amount of change I guess. This is why we test.

I have been running the 2nd Alpha 2 on my 2x RT-AX86U's since the firmware was released on Monday.

Yesterday, I thought I too would have to revert back to Alpha 1.

Looking at my notes, I saw that I had forgotten to do the second reboot of the system (after doing the first one at 16 minutes after updating all routers) after an hour.

In the AiMesh menu, I initiated a system reboot (1 day, 9 hours ago now) and haven't had any issues since.

To summarize (what I should have done):
  • Flash the node to the latest Alpha 2
  • 'Safely remove...' the USB drive from the main router.
  • Flash the main router.
  • After 15 minutes, reboot the system (via the AiMesh, System Settings, menu).
  • After an additional hour or more, repeat the step above.
Note that before I did a second system reboot after at least an additional hour had passed, no combination of rebooting the node, main router, or both (individually) made the network stable.

Good notes and best practices to the rescue again. :)

And the best part? No need to revert to an old firmware version (which to me is a 'worst practice').

Installed alpha2 v2 on my AX58U PPPoE

No issues for me only to confirm VPN UI issue previously reported but as I'm not using VPN currently I can live with this.
