Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.3 is now available for WIfi 7 devices

Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.3 is now available for supported Wifi 7 models. This release focuses on updating to a new GPL, and fixing issues.

Please make sure you read the changelog for important information if flashing Asuswrt-Merlin for the first time on top of the original Asus firmware.

Code:
3006.102.3 (11-Jan-2025)
  - NOTE: If flashing on top of Asus stock firmware 3006.102_37000
or greater, then you first need to enable downgrade
capabilities before flashing Asuswrt-Merlin on top
of it. Connect Over SSH, and run the following command:

             nvram set DOWNGRADE_CHECK_PASS=1

After that, you can upload Asuswrt-Merlin through
the webui like any regular firmware upgrade.

This is only required when flashing Asuswrt-Merlin
          for the first time.

  - NOTE: The new GPL codebase changed the way wireless networks
are configured. If you ever revert to an older
firmware, you MUST do a factory default reset following
the firmware downgrade, on both the router and any
          existing AiMesh nodes.

  - NEW: (re-added) VPN interface selector on the Speedtest page,
to test a VPN tunnel's throughput.
  - UPDATED: Merged with GPL 3006.102_37346 (with the wifi firmware
from 37038 for the RT-BE96U and GT-BE98_PRO - was missing
             from GPL)
  - UPDATED: dropbear to 2024.86.
  - CHANGED: VPN public IP retrieval now uses HTTP instead of STUN,
which should be more reliable through a VPN tunnel.
  - CHANGED: Model name will be inserted in the filename of JFFS backups.
  - CHANGED: Display DHCP leases from other VLANs
  - CHANGED: Improved refresh behaviour of the VPN Status page.
  - CHANGED: Set rp_filter mode to "loose" on Wireguard client interfaces.
             Fixes gettunnelip.sh and onboard speedtest.
  - FIXED: webui always redirecting to router hostname for RT-BE86U.
  - FIXED: DLNA device icon missing for GT-BE98_PRO
  - FIXED: Site Survey page not loading properly
  - FIXED: Wireless Log would sometimes display the wrong hostnames
  - FIXED: Refresh link not working on OpenVPN/Wireguard client pages.
  - FIXED: WireGuard client randomly failing to retrieve public IP for
           display on the webui.
  - FIXED: Some Guest Networks wouldn't properly list their
connected clients on the Wireless Log page.

As mentionned in the changelog, Asus reworked the way wireless networks are configured internally with recent 3006 releases. The main wireless settings are now configured as a subunit (subunit 1) rather than at the root of the unit. So if you have any custom script or Add-On that interfaced with Wireless settings, don't expect these to still work properly. They will need to be updated to the new internal storage.

Wow😲, What has changed?🤔
Never achieved this kind of speed before, ever. Until now.😅

Hooray !!!!!!😆😆😆

Thanks Merlin. 👏👏👏👏

RT-BE88U, dirty upgrade from previous Merlin release version.

I think I found a bug.

I noticed under QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor, it's not in real time anymore. The meter shoots up to a very high download number then goes back down to 0 within a second when I do a speed test at speedtest.net in my browser. It's like it's lagging or something... I tried to turn 'Apps analysis' off then back on but it does the same thing. Cold-rebooted the router twice but it's doing the same thing.

Traffic Monitor is working fine in real time.

Anyone else having the same issue on the RT-BE88U?

Installed it earlier today and everything is working as expected. I can also report that the log message: custom_script: Running /jffs/scripts/service-event-end (args: restart autowan) spamming the log is now gone.

Start by doing a factory reset and look if this bug still present....

My GT-BE98 Pro is refusing to upgrade for some reason I’ve factory reset and tried but it keeps coming up as 3006.102.2_2 and I’ve also set the ram setting to bypass downgrade blocking

Try using MerlinAU to upgrade (install using amtm) — I have been able to upgrade other routers that otherwise refused to update. @ExtremeFiretop and @Martinski have created a masterpiece!

I can confirm the same behaviour on my BE-88U, but I can't tell if wasn't the same before the upgrade or running stock FW

No 2.4Ghz wifi clients listed, and I'm sure there some on my network. @RMerlin I thought you fixed this one?

I did, all subunits (typically 7) are now processed instead of just the first four. What appears if you click on the Open button on the Wireless Log?

If the clients don't show on the networkmap's Client list either, then I suspect these clients might possibly not be connected at all to this specific router.

Using the 'Open Button' there non listed too, but why are there 2 listed in the 'View List' on the Network page? (the last screenshot in my previous post) . And I can confirm they are connected as I can ping them

is posstible that clients connected to the mesh node are missing? The 2 missing for me are connected to the client node?
Also on the network page, there 0 devices connected:

Maybe this is an Asus stock FW issue too?
