Asuswrt-Merlin 374.40 is out

Is there anything in the newest firmware which would compel me to upgrade to any newer version? My thinking says it's working great and since I'm not using any of the features like USB or VPN there's no point in risking the stability.

Did you read the changelog in the first posting of this thread?
There you will find all the changes since version 35 - and you can decide if this is important to you, or not...

Thank you, and yep it was already running at 800,666 I got the router in Januari 2014 at b&h on Manhattan, guess it was updated "out of the box", was alot cheaper to buy it in America then back home in Sweden

Btw is there any diff in link speed between the firmwares ? When i used the one called 3.0.0.4.374.4422 i was getting around 110.000kb/s from my linux comp (via ftp) to my win 8.1 comp, but any newer firmware then that and i get capped around 40.000kb/s. Nothing els changed but the firmware, is there something ive missed ?

Did you do a full reset when switching firmware? Did you 'forget' the network settings on each device (or easier: did you use a new ssid with the new firmware you tried)?

Hello, no i just flashed the router and restarded it, didnt do a full reset.
And the SSID stayed the same as before the flash

I update from .40 beta to .40 stable and I noticed that my Huawei E3131 serial modem doesn't connect to the network anymore.

Anyone else has an issue with the 3G modules?

rt-n66u random reboot ?

Din any of the RT-N66U users experienced random reboots ?

I upgraded last Friday from .39-em to .40 and noticed yesterday in the logs the router rebooted sometime friday night ... it seems everything is ok since...

The same suspicious behavior was happening also with 39-em, the router rebooted a couple of times, but i did not mention at that time because i thought it was something wrong with my setup ... I did a factory reset and reconfigured from scratch and for a couple of days it was ok, and then i upgraded to 40...

If it wasn't for the hardware acceleration tweak which i need for my gigabit pppoe connection i would go back to .26b without a wink ... any build past .26b was a complete disappointment for me...

After my upgrade to. 40 i have one restart after laptop connected to 5Ghz. After that i have several drops at 2.4 GHz and device won't connect automatically i have to push button connect. Now i revert back to. 39. I have RT-N66U.

What do you mean by: Scheduled stealth mode? Where do you find that feature? Or how do you schedule Stealth Mode?

"Stealth mode" how ASUS calls it, is basically a setting in Merlin's build allowing you to turn off router LEDs.
It is present in later ASUS models (RT-AC68U has a hardware button for that) but there was no such feature in stock RT-N66U firmware.
By scheduling (needs CLI script) it you can turn LEDs on and off at predefined times.

Yikes! I have SSH set not to be accessible from WAN and I've got thousands of entries like this in my system log. Most seem to be from Egypt.

Then either you are doing something to open or forward port 22 on your router's firewall, or the firewall is disabled.

I see 3 different IP's trying to login. UK, China and Tuson AZ. Might be one hundred or two entries. Not thousands.
I turned off SSH and respond to ping. I had ping enabled in order to use "Smokeping" on broadband reports.com. Had SSh on to change some permissions on a hard drive.

It is no longer possible to disable individual clients in the client list. Changes
in the list will not stick after applying.

How to reproduce: Uncheck a client in the list and then click Apply.

At this point its hard to say. It seems alot of people spent alot of money for a router that is unstable and in my opinion Asus should have come up with a fix by now. This is getting rediculous and they have not even made a post here letting people know whats going on. Hate to say it but maybe its time to return it and move on to another vender.

I just seen your using the N66 that router dont have issues with rebooting. My problem is for the people that bought and use the 68U. The N66 for me always ran the best with 374_38_4 sdk5
