May 13 23:08:20 disk_monitor: Got SIGALRM...
I have disabled all disk functions from day one, what is this?

Normal the first day when you just flashed your router. Its a scan for usb device

May 20 08:24:28 rc_service: httpd 524:notify_rc restart_wlcscan
I did a search and found some reference to changing the Preamble Type to short is the fix, not sure if it will?

Normal, you have performed a manual "Survey scan" in Wireless Section

I did not reboot the router yet, all I did was change the preamble to short so far.

If I see the problem again I will revert back to the alpha (I have it) and test further.

I noticed the same thing. It's consistently a little slower. I ran multiple speed tests from different sites and never got above ~700 Mbps download until I reverted back to .58. RT-AC68P.

This doesn't look good. Hopefully a fix can be found

Has anyone else had problems with SMB shares with this release? I upgraded from .57 to .59 and now am unable to access my SMB share from my Windows 7 boxes:

Strangely, I can still access the share fine from my Android devices. If I flash .57 back, the problem disappears. I have not changed any settings.

@RMerlin that Samba issue I posted about back in the 380.59 beta thread with my RT-AC68P has come back three times now. It is very strange. I just saw @knubbze post about an issue and I saw that somebody else recently created a thread about samba issues, so I figured I would post again to see if you had any ideas.

Switched from 380.1842 to 380.58 and NAS speed went from 50/30 to 21/4. Switched to 380.2695 and the speed immediately went back to 50/30. Switched to 380.59 beta 2 and NAS speed dropped again. Spent a night switching between various versions to try and track down when the issue started but it stayed at 21/4 even when going back to 380.2695 until a reboot of the router magically fixed it. Switched back to 380.59 beta 2 and it was about 40/20. Switched to 380.59 and it went back up to 50/30. About 5 days later, it fell to 21/4. I rebooted the router but it stayed at 21/4. Rebooted WINDOWS and it went back to 50/30. Another few days later it fell to 21/4. Rebooted windows and it went back up to 50/30. Now it has been a few days and it suddenly dropped to 21/4 again. I was thinking maybe an issue with my machine except it seems directly tied to the Merlin branch and I see others posting about Samba strangeness. Also, the wireless speed is completely unaffected from this windows box, only the Samba speed and when the issue happens, connecting through a wired connection fixes it but going back to wireless without a reboot does not. I also tried switching from 5.0 to 2.4 while the issue is happening and NAS speed dropped to 10/3. Some type of incompatibility between Windows and something introduced in 380.58?

Up and running for 5 days now with no issues on RT-AC87R with 380.59. Smooth upgrade from the previous release. Only thing I am not going to do is re-enabled IPv6 on AT&T's UVERSE service due to their unreliable tunneling in the network.

Hi, I'm trying to understand where is my fault, but I'm not able to upload 380.59 on AC68U:(. I Really need local dns service, thanks for
suggest☺

16.05.22 hi forum, is there anybody with an idea for my problem please? Many thanks.

I believe it may be a bug. For a temp fix, I've found that:

LAN > Switch Control > NAT Acceleration

Initially for me, after factory reset, upgrading, and downgrading it only states:

CTF(Cut Through Forwarding) is enabled.

I max out at 600-700 Mbps

Disabling Nat Acceleration yields 250 Mbps on speed test.

Re-enabling Nat Acceleration after disabling then changes:

CTF(Cut Through Forwarding) is enabled

to

CTF(Cut Through Forwarding) and FA(Flow Acceleration) accelerator are enabled.

The key being "FA(Flow Acceleration)" as enabled. Not sure what it is, but when that message shows I then begin to see my normal 1 gig speeds on speed test.

I know this is for ASUS routers only and I'm using XVortex on the R7000, but has anyone noticed a power drain on his/her smartphone/tablet when on this FW version? I have a Galaxy J5 phone and found out that on the wireless log it's constantly switching between powersave and normal mode (PSTAU vs STAU) back and forth. If I flash the previous .58 version of XVortex, the powerdrain goes away and the device, according to logs, stays in powersave mode like virtually all the time... so I have no choice but to use .58 for the time being.

Had the firmware 59. alpha 2 on the asus rt-ac88u run without problems. Now runs the firmware 59. and I have with all apple mobile phones problems quickly drain the batteries.

There are more people who have the same problem.
I have battery drain on my samsung tablet. It's bad. I can go to bed at 10pm and the tablet will lose all power by morning.

Disable/Re-enable, I do not see FA, still just CTF

Yes there is.. I mentioned it a few pages back as well.

I too cannot see "FA" it still shows CTF. I have followed the steps listed in the link to the other thread describing how to but still no luck. I have tried it 2x.
Me too, I know I had this working when I first got the router and flashed it with merlins.
I just flashed, cleared NVRAM, disabled QOS and Spanning tree, power off the router after turning off NAT acceleration turned back on , rebooted and still nothing.
Must be some setting doing it.....

Are there any plans on supporting the 4G-AC55U modem/router? I'm getting fcked by bufferbloat on my Huaweii e5183 and looking for a replacement one in all solution and would like to avoid having to use a router and bridge modem combo...

Merlin supports routers , not modem / routers.

Have it working now CTF (Cut Through Forwarding) and FA (Flow Acceleration) are both enabled. Spanning-Tree Protocol is disabled. What i had to do was turn off "parental controls". I then disabled NAT Acceleration and power cycled router. Then put NAT Acceleration back to "Auto" and power cycled router. This is on RT-AC87R.

Why is it such a PITA to enable this?

I don't use parental controls.
I did turn off ST and QOS and disabled NAT , power cycled and then re enabled NAT and still no go.
must be some other setting i have??
