interesting while a little misleading as well.
merlin,
how do you usually get the routers you work on?
do you buy them yourself, company sends them, or does the community fund the purchase somehow?
oh wow. i didnt know you had the 68U already.
the whole intent of the question was to know when you'd get one and how you acquire it.
how long til you get a build up you reckon?
This question has been asked so much that I think Merlin has stopped answering it. I am sure that you must have found the answer already but just in case, Merlin has stated that he awaiting the firmware update from Asus for the RT-AC68U. That update should be issued this upcoming week or the following week. Then it could take a week or so for Asus to post the source code which is what Merlin needs in order to merge his code with the stock firmware. So it will be a week or two at least before there is a Merlin-based firmware version for the AC68U.oh wow. i didnt know you had the 68U already.

Actually, since I managed to at least get my USB3 HDD to work @ 50 MB/s with it, I decided to release a preview build
Consider this as something between an alpha and a beta build. It has received somewhat limited testings so far (I'm not running the AC68U as my main router yet as I need to take it down too often for flashing test builds, and this is a brand new router model), so testing was limited to the router sitting on my living room table, with an Ethernet cable connected to it. I don't expect too much trouble however since the HW is very close to the RT-AC56U.
Even with your firmware, the local to local through external address (with port forwarding) doesn't work when HW acceleration is enabled. As soon as I disable HW acceleration it starts working. Any idea where is this problem coming from?
HW acceleration is in a closed-source module. Only Broadcom has the source code to this, there's nothing that can be done about it.
I added these new findings to my ASUS support ticket. Hopefully they will work with Broadcom to fix it.
i wish asus' firmware didnt reboot the router everytime you make a change to the settings.
i want to keep this router online as long as possible, 7 days now, to see how stable it is long term, but at the same time, i think my port forwarding is screwed up so i want to make changes there.
my privatvpn speeds took a massive hit when upgrading to this router, and now i'm not sure what to do to fix things.
