First of all thanks Rmerlin for all your great work. I have a quick question. Did you change any of the Wins or Master browser options? In the past if i checked these boxes under the USB server miscellaneous configuration area I could resolve devices on my workgroup by hostname. Since I have upgraded I no longer seem to be able to do this.

There hasn't been any change related to this since 354, unless a change on Asus's side of the code is causing issues.

Make sure everything is within the same workgroup, including the router.

Everything looks correct; I dropped back to 270.26b and everything appears to be working correctly. Perhaps ASUS changed the code on their side. Thanks again for all your hard work :D

Make sure you went with 372.30_2. Also, TAP mode is already known to be broken, and I'm too busy with work to look into it these days (I just worked 20+ hours this past weekend).

Also note that keys must be smaller than 4096 bits now. I had to limit the size of the fields to 3000 characters in a fix to prevent buffer overruns at the nvram level.

Hi RMerlin,

What is the reason "TAP mode to be broken" in 372.30_2? I am using 270.26b and it works perfectly as a TAP server. My understanding is that nothing is changed in OpenVPN between 270.26b and 372.30_2. Am I wrong?

I will need more info about setup and actual error messages from folks having OpenVPN issues, cause TAP Server mode is working fine for me.

openvpn

Merlin,

In terms of more info on openvpn, I can tell you that I couldn't get a far as attempting to try the tap interface. I couldn't save the keys, certs etc. They were there, but the vpn server would not start. I then proceeded to wipe them, saved them (empty) and put them back in (with no trailing carriage returns or spaces) and it just sat there and would not save and hung the whole interface. I had to ssh in and reboot to get the system back online. I was just _2 on the B1 revision tree.

What type of WAN interface? What do you see in System Log when you try to manually start OpenVPN? Server or Client?

AC66 SC is out of the bag. And asus .372 firmware for N66u with new wireless drivers released.

Nice - they also included the Northstar (ARM) source in this tarball (that's why it's so large).

I don't expect to have time to really work on this until next week. This one will require more work than usual as well, as I will have to integrate the ARM environment into the main environment (so far, I had to handle ARM-based firmwares in a separate tree as it wasn't integrated into the build system yet).

Maybe that's a good thing, that gives the rest of us time to check out how the new wireless driver does on 5GHz. That may help you with the decision whether or not to keep the 270 wireless driver for your next release.

Bug?
Samba start after plug in USB.

I don't understand - what problem are you experiencing?

Temporarily being unable to contact the router during the Samba startup is probably normal - the firewall has to adjust its rules.

I recently upgraded from 270.26b to 372.30_3. I didn't notice any issue until my cousin try to access the wifi guest network and got denied. He has no problem access guest network wifi before the upgrade. After doing further troubleshooting, it seems the guest network using the wireless mac filter that I setup for my main wifi. Is there way to disable the mac filter being use by the guest network?

Other than that great work RMerlin!!!

Decided to switch back to 270.26b since there no option to disable the mac filter on the guest network without disable the primary wireless mac filter. Hopefully Asus will address this issue and have separate mac filter for the guest network.

1. Disabling the Samba service
2. Plug a USB flash drive into a USB port
3. SSH terminal: top
