Nice job! with 384.8_1 :)
On my side the problem with the french UI in the tab Admin / system is solved ,the page is displayed correctly now(FF,Edge) . In general I find that the UI is more responsive than before , maybe its just a placebo effect. :p
Dirty flash from 384.8 , no reset, no reboot.

Is it this commit that made this?

I uploaded a few early test builds. Gathering further feedback before finalizing a point release, so 384.8_2 won't be out for at least a couple of days.
My computer's 5GHz Wi-Fi isn't getting along with 384.8 even after Initializing the router (RT-AC66U B1). Didn't see anything unusual in the router's system log either. Had to revert to the previous stable 384.7_2. I shall try your test build to see how it goes.

Edit: So far it looks like the test is more stable. Not a single drop. Thanks @RMerlin!

On my RT-AX88U i try to configure a standard openvpn or PPTP, everytime when add a username and psw. after pushing apply button , the psw is change to a weird psw.
So i cant login by VPN :-(

factory reset didnt help.

i even try import a old .config from RT-AC88U with the same result :-(
Any idea what happend ?

Looks like Asus now encrypts those passwords...

EDIT:: Have you actually tested it with the password you had entered? Because it seems to work for me, it's just that you can't view the decrypted version on the webui.

Does the password have a template like
$n$_______$___________

Does the password have a template like
$n$_______$___________

No, they use base64 encoding (ABCD==).

The password gets decrypted at the time they write to passwd.openvpn, so the server works fine, it's just that it's no longer possible to view on the webui (unless I start decrypting them and passing a decrypted version to httpd, which would completely defeat the purpose of encryption).

Code:
admin@stargate88ax:/tmp/home/root# nvram get vpn_serverx_clientlist
<merlin2>yppqnpAPwftF4W2U+Tjl1A==<merlin>yppqnpAPwftF4W2U+Tjl1A==

(those were temporary test accounts)

Hello,
i have upgraded to 384.8_1 and the issue for french language work now.
All settings is not translated in french but work fine.
One issue for me: I have always alert for new firmware available.

@RMerlin
Hey. Iptables rules are not saved on the latest firmware.
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --destination-port 51413 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --destination-port 51413 -j ACCEPT
I enter commands to open port 51413, but after restarting the router, these rules disappear and the port becomes unavailable. Who knows how to keep them? Thanks.

You have to run them from within a shell script to make them persistent between reboots.

firewall-start script event is recommended for your case.

Else found this problem with AiProtection, with included bilateral IPS can't connect via NFS from the local network (media player) to a directory on the HDD for the router, the IPS report shows the presence of attack "External Attacks", and Security Alert – "VULN dump Portmapper reconnaissance". If you disable IPS, then connect to the disk via NFS without problems. What could be the reason?

I'm currently using a no-ip DDNS free service which requires reactivation every 30 days. I had signed up with another free DDNS service "DYNU" but I can't set it up in AX-88U as it's not listed as one of the service under DDNS tab. Can someone recommend a good free DDNS service that is also listed in the AX router for setup? Thanks

If you own your own domain, I highly recommend using he.net's dynamic DNS service on a subdomain: https://dns.he.net/docs.html. You can configure it in AsusWRT with DNSOMATIC.com. No need to do anything, and you can set up a subdomain like ddns.yourdomain.com.

Edit: This is off-topic for the thread, mods feel free to delete if appropriate.

3.0.0.4.384.45149 released by ASUS today…...

Update: just “upgrade” the org firmware with 384.8 (without factory reset) and now i can login with the entered username and password.
Dont understand why or what make the differents, the only thing is that i configure this time the username + psw in org firmware instead configure it on a clean 384.8 ,
but im glad its working again

Don't know if this is a problem? router.asus.com fails on RT-AC86U. 192.168.50.1 works and system log shows these lines...

I am having the same issue. It kicks my wifi devices off while it restarts the service: Log:
