Once you are on the fork, you can use the admin tab gui to go up or down to another fork release or to Merlin or Asus firmware.
You only need to use the restoration tool when moving from Merlin/Asus to the fork.
Thanks John

I will try 29 again without AdFreeTime DNS.
What should a user do to not interfere ? I presume that hard-coded DNS in apps overrides router DNS no matter what, whether we use ISP provided DNS or our own settings ?One thing to check when having issues with Google is the DNS configuration. For instance, Google likes to hardcode their own DNS into mobile apps. Make sure you're not doing anything to interfere with that.

Can you check your WAN ip address and see if it's the same when you connect as you change levels? Maybe the change in code is causing you to connect to a different head end at your ISP, and that is what is having problems.Changed DNS to Connect to DNS Server automatically.
Turned off router for a few min after a reboot.
Google still hosed. Noting in any logs.
Please post up a syslog after a reboot....Wan IP is the same.
G Play works partially. Cached items load fast. I can click on an app, but that page only partially loads. It loads fast. But no graphics, and a lot of the page is missing. If I click install, just get a spinning circle.
DHCP log is off.@Lotta Cox
Nothing of interest in the syslog other that the fact I don't see any devices requesting an IP address. Do you have DHCP logging turned off?
One thought.....the new wl driver is a pretty significant change. Can you try forgetting then reconnecting the connection on the troublesome devices.

Under windows 7 , 64bit, show all utilities -- ASUS Firmware Restoration version 2.0.0.0So a kind person here told me look at some other router that did have the Firmware Restoration for me to D/L.
Where is that setting ? Saw it a few days ago.@phx28777 @Lotta Cox
I may have found a problem that can cause some strange symptoms. If you are running with CTF enabled, try disabling it and see if things clear up.
