I did a clean update today and everything is running as expected.

I noticed one thing before I updated from 388.6_2 to 388.7. I have "Scheduled check for new firmware availability" set to "No", however, when I logged in for the first time today, I noticed that the new firmware notification was flashing. I double checked and the Scheduled check was disabled. I also did not manually trigger the update check. A minor issue - I wasn't sure if it was significant enough to report here, or if this problem will still be present in 388.7. Please accept my apologies if I am misunderstanding the feature or if I am missing something.

         support for clients.  It must be enabled on the WAN

             need to readjust that setting if you had previously
             changed it.
  - CHANGED: SIP, RTSP and H323 ALG (NAT helpers) are now
             disabled by default, as these legacy features tend
             to create issues with modern VoIP setups.
             This change will only apply to people doing a
             factory default reset of their router.
  - FIXED: Concurrent cronjob changes through cru could cause
           collisions, leading to missing jobs (dave14305)
  - FIXED: crond would not use the new timezone if it got changed.
  - FIXED: MiniDLNA web interface could only be accessed through an
           IP address (regression in 3004.388.6).
  - FIXED: CVE-2023-5678 & CVE-2024-0727 in openssl (backport from
           Ubuntu by RSDNTWK)
  - FIXED: Long lists on System Log -> Connections tab could result
           in a timeout (Sani Huttunen)
  - REMOVED: Temperature page (charts are now part of the redesigned
             Tools->Sysinfo page).

Dirty update to 388.7 on AX86S running smoothly. Took two attempts as unmounting USB drives wasn't successful on first attempt and update failed. Unmounting drives again successfully and then upgrading worked. Everything now is fine.

After some initial problems with version 3004.388.6_2, I updated today to version 3004.388.7 followed by a WPS reset and manual configuration of all settings, everything is working fine so far (AX88U)
The new Design in Sysinfo is beautiful and modern.
Thanks @RMerlin we're lucky to have state of the art firmware.

i've actually had this issue since I went from the AX88U to AX88U Pro in the last few firmware versions. On the previous router after a firmware update it would see the USB drive and everything was mounted and fine. On the Pro I always have to either unmount drive before the flash or after flash unplug the drive and plug it back in. Not really a big issue for me but something I did notice.

I'd really like to hear @RMerlin 's (thoughts/opinion) regarding this topic. I've been quietly following along as @octopus & some others mentioned USB mounting issues with [what IMO] seems tied to the newer ubifs type memory instead of the older jiffs. I mean as @New2This mentioned... we can manually unmount & physically remove USB-drives. However, I'm (fairly certain) that solution will NOT work for people trying to (support/upgrade) REMOTE routers.

I have a personal interest in resolving this one because...
It's keeping me from putting my newer RT-AX88UPro into place as the main Router.
Why? I'm running some Entware installed apps (via usb-drive) on my older RT-AX86U.

But Perhaps the FIX needs to be done via ASUS as it may reside in the closed source code?
