Should be able to add local IP of device to gaming category. Forces everything with that IP into that category.
 
How are you measuring the fact that download and upload are intertwined? Do you have a screenshot to share?

Here's 2 minute silent video of a speedtest, The QoS tab, the QoS Monitor and Flex QoS tab so you can see what I'm seeing here. You'll also see that my internet is asynchronous, hence my desire for the best QoS I can run :) Normally I run 120d/6u, I changed it to 120d/3u for this video. Also, on the QoS monitor tab, you'll see the machine I'm using "Win10Box" indicates download during the upload portion of the test.

Yesterday I didn't get too far with it:
I decided that I needed some logs from a working device to compare to logs from the borked set-up, so I did a reset and got everything working perfectly - but then got side-tracked.

Around 11PM last night, I noticed my light browsing was a bit laggy. My wife's phone was uploading photos and the AC68u was doing it again. Since I hadn't been fiddling, I don't know what caused it to happen (yet...)

I also didn't get any logs from my router while it was working. From memory, all I had done was turned on IPV6 passthrough, named a few devices, then started helping my youngest with his new Arduino...and had way too much fun...

I believe you're chasing your tail here. (But please, prove me wrong).
If this seems like I'm chasing my tail, please let me know :) I know enough to feel like I can figure this out, but I'm definitely a hobby IT person.

I'm going to reset again once the family gets off the internet for a bit, and get a functional log so I have a baseline to work with. I'll keep updating. Thanks much for all the replies!
 
I’ve had QoS upload limiting fail to work when I had IPv6 enabled. Have you tested with IPv6 disabled?
Disabled IPV6 and it works again!

Very cool, and now I have a much better idea of where to start poking around to understand why it happens!

Edit: Or not. It's called "passthrough" for a reason *facepalm*

If you use a single device for Gaming you can do what @QuikSilver suggested above. I'm not a gamer but an idea could be if you use multiple devices you can monitor a particular device that uses the Google Stadia and see what Mark the Trend Micro engine assigns to the Google Stadia traffic and create a rule for that particular Mark in the IP table to be forced to Gaming category.
 
do you guys know how to set a rule for google cloud services and amazon web services?

I tried to search in app redirect rules but no luck with that. And I cannot go with IP ranges as well because google cloud start with either 34. or 35.

@dave14305 , I searched for these through the threads but couldnt find anything. I was running 386-Beta2 on a AC86u, flexqos was working perfect. Today I purchased a AX86u installed 386-beta2 and flexqos. The bandwidth monitor is correct, but flexqos barely
shows any movement of data. I factory reset twice, and reformatted the jffs twice, I did not restore any settings at all. Pictures were taken at the same time. The download process is set as "work at home", but I tried streaming also.
I do realize Im using a beta firmware, pretty odd it worked on one and not the other.

Hard to say what might be going on, but keep in mind that FlexQoS (and the Merlin Classification page) will display a rate that is supplied by the tc class command, which is a 10-second average of the rate. It will not be able to match any instantaneous measurements of throughput.

Regarding the AX86U, I don’t have much to say other than it’s a new model for Merlin support and you’re running a Merlin beta of an ASUS Release Candidate (R.C.). Your best bet is probably to wait for beta3 with new ASUS GPL code, or install the ASUS stock R.C. version and report any Adaptive QoS issues directly to ASUS via the Feedback form in the stock GUI.

The fact that you show some data in all the classes suggests that on some level Adaptive QoS is working to some unknown degree.
 
Installed via amtm, and I can see the flexqos tab in the UI, but clicking on it does nothing. If I try to run it from the command line (or from amtm) I get this:

I suggest switching to John's fork which is a maintained version and supports the addons API that FlexQoS uses

You are exactly correct [as usual] - the AX86U under both Stock beta and Merlin beta has a pretty unproductive Adaptive QoS [not sure how @L&LD has managed to get FlexQoS working on his?]. In my case Adaptive QoS does not even obey the manually assigned speed limits - and scores badly on DSLReports.

By contrast - Cake-QoS works straight out of the blocks and produces triple A+ ratings on DSLReports. Cake-Qos of course does not use Asus QoS at all and disables both Runner and Flow acceleration.

Patiently waiting for beta3 or better still final release of 386 when I hope to be able to return to FlexQoS :).
 
RT-AX86U Trend Micro stuff should be fixed in 41535 from what I've been told.

I observed a unusual behaviour of the FlexQoS now that all the kids are at home watching Netflix and playing Games and the bandwidth gets utilised almost 100% all the time. I have FLAC internet radio HiFi category classified as "Others" with the highest priority and sometimes (quire rarely) when the bandwidth if fully utilised the flow get's queued for few seconds and restarts playing after that by itself however when it restarts the traffic is no longer shown in the charts (see attached) this is with the streamer playing the internet radio at 2Mbits/s.

I have "Conntrack Flushing" enabled and I also switched from fq_codel to sfq recently in preparation for 386 release so I'm not sure if this is relevant but just FYI. Please see below and Debug to see if you can find anything.

What kind of rule controls this traffic (AppDB or iptables)? When it resumes playing, are you sure it still matches (if it’s an iptables rule)? Filter on the device to see if it’s detected differently for the actual stream.

Thanks for the prompt replay, as always, Dave. The traffic is controlled by 3 iptables rules based on the fixed IP address of the streamer (see below). With regards to your other question I'm trying to replicated the problem but I can't brake it now :rolleyes:. As soon as I manage to reproduce it, I will report the findings.
